Full job description

Go Beyond Academy is a comprehensive education centre located in Richmond Hill, providing high-quality academic and arts programs. We are seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, and professional English Instructors to join our team beginning in September 2026 and continue throughout the 2026–2027 academic school year.

In this role, you will support students from Grades 1–12 in developing strong reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, and communication skills. Depending on the grade level, instruction may range from foundational literacy and phonics to novel study, critical reading, essay writing, and literary analysis.

This is an ongoing part-time position with teaching opportunities primarily during weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekends.

Key ResponsibilitiesEnglish Instruction

Deliver engaging, structured, and curriculum-aligned English lessons for students in Grades 1–12.

Reading and Writing Development

Support students in developing vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, reading comprehension, paragraph writing, and overall written communication skills.

Senior-Level English

Assist middle school and high school students with:

  • Critical reading and text analysis
  • Novel study
  • Paragraph and essay organization
  • Academic and persuasive writing
  • Literary analysis
  • Research and written assignments
  • Preparation for high school and university-level English expectations

Student Engagement

Create a positive, supportive, inclusive, and academically focused classroom environment that encourages student participation and confidence.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

Track student performance, identify areas requiring improvement, and provide regular, constructive feedback.

Adaptability

Adjust teaching strategies, lesson content, and pacing based on students' grade levels, learning styles, academic strengths, and individual goals.

Parent Communication

Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress, participation, strengths, and areas for continued development.

Collaboration

Work closely with the Go Beyond Academy team to maintain consistent teaching standards and support students' academic development.

QualificationsEducation

A post-secondary degree in English, Education, Humanities, Child and Youth Studies, or a related field is preferred.

Ontario Certified Teachers, teacher candidates, and current university students or recent graduates in English, Education, or related programs are encouraged to apply.

Experience

Previous classroom teaching, tutoring, teaching-assistant, or youth education experience is preferred.

English Proficiency

Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal English communication skills and be comfortable teaching reading and writing concepts across different grade levels.

Teaching Skills

Candidates should be able to explain concepts clearly, provide meaningful feedback on student writing, and adapt instruction to students with different academic needs.

Personal Qualities

Reliable, professional, organized, patient, adaptable, and genuinely passionate about helping students improve their English skills.

Work Schedule and Commitment

This is an ongoing part-time teaching position beginning in September 2026.

Typical teaching hours include:

  • Weekday afternoons and evenings
  • Saturday and Sunday
  • Additional teaching hours may become available depending on enrollment and scheduling

Applicants who are available to commit consistently throughout the 2026–2027 academic school year will be given preference.
