Discover New Career Opportunities with New Found Gold!

We are Hiring – Modelling Geologist

Hammerdown Project - King’s Point, NL

At New Found Gold, we’re on a mission to uncover the treasures hidden beneath the Earth’s surface. As a leading gold exploration company, we combine cutting-edge technology with geological expertise to discover and develop world-class mineral resources. Our values— Leadership, Safety, Sustainability, Community and Courage—guide every step of our journey.

New Found Gold is seeking a Modelling Geologist to develop, maintain, and interpret high-quality three-dimensional geological models that support mineral resource evaluation, mine planning, exploration, and operational decision-making. Working closely with geology, engineering, and technical services teams, the successful candidate will integrate geological, geochemical, structural, and drilling data into defensible models and communicate geological uncertainty clearly.

Your Role in the Expedition:

As the Modelling Geologist, you’ll be part of a dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build, update, and validate three-dimensional geological, lithological, structural, alteration, and mineralization models.
  • Compile and integrate drillhole, mapping, assay, geophysical, and other geological datasets.
  • Interpret geological controls on mineralization and translate interpretations into clear modelling assumptions.
  • Integrate new drilling and mapping information into the geological model and use model outcomes to support exploration targeting and drill program design.
  • Support resource estimation workflows through domain construction, data review, model validation, and documentation.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control checks and identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks in geological data.
  • Collaborate with exploration, resource geology, geotechnical, hydrogeology, mine planning, and operations teams.
  • Prepare plans, sections, visualizations, technical reports, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain modelling standards, workflows, version control, and auditable documentation.
  • Contribute geological input to model reconciliation, geological risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote safe work practices and comply with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

What You Bring to the Field:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, earth sciences, geological engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in geological interpretation and three-dimensional modelling within mining, mineral exploration, or a related geoscience environment.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard geological modelling software and spatial data tools.
  • Experience with Leapfrog Geo or comparable 3D geological modelling software is preferred.
  • Sound understanding of ore deposit geology, structural geology, geological domaining, and resource evaluation principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, analyze, and validate large geological datasets.
  • Strong technical writing, visualization, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate work within deadlines.
  • Eligibility for professional geoscience registration in the applicable jurisdiction.

The Terrain Ahead:

  • Location: Primarily remote (work from home), with periodic travel to the Hammerdown Project site in Newfoundland.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time.
  • Travel: Approximately one week on site per quarter, with additional site visits as operational requirements dictate. Company-paid travel to and from site.
  • Reports To: Hammerdown Exploration Manager.
  • Posting Date: October 7, 2026

Why Join Hammerdown?

Hammerdown represents one of Atlantic Canada's most exciting gold exploration and development opportunities. While supporting the continued growth of the existing deposit, the exploration team is actively advancing district-scale geological understanding and developing the next generation of drill targets across a highly prospective land package.

As part of a growing technical team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Play a leading role in shaping the exploration strategy for the Hammerdown district.
  • Contribute to a complete geological remodeling of the deposit using modern geological modelling techniques.
  • Work on a structurally complex orogenic gold system with significant exploration upside.
  • Help generate and test new regional exploration targets.
  • Collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary technical team.
  • Grow into increasing technical and leadership responsibilities as the exploration group expands.

If you are passionate about discovery, enjoy solving complex geological problems, and want to help build the next chapter of exploration success at Hammerdown, we encourage you to apply.
