As an Advisor, GIS Lands & Right of Way, you will maintain and improve essential spatial data for land management activities across our North American operations. You will employ GIS technologies, spatial analysis, and data automation tools to develop high-quality mapping solutions. Your work will support business partners and help guarantee the reliability of Lands & Right of Way data in operational and strategic decisions.

What You Will Do:
-
Maintain, revise, and verify GIS datasets concerning land parcels, agreement boundaries, and other Lands & Right of Way spatial details using ArcGIS tools.
-
Edit and manage spatial geometries, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and adherence to established mapping standards and data governance requirements.
-
Complete Python scripts, ArcPy tools, FME workflows, and other automation processes to support data transformation, integration, and maintenance activities.
-
Perform spatial analysis and generate maps, reports, and visual products that support business operations, planning, and decision-making.
-
Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews to identify and resolve data inconsistencies, topology issues, and attribute discrepancies.
-
Provide front-line support to internal collaborators by responding to GIS inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and delivering timely solutions.
-
Work alongside GIS specialists, Lands & Right of Way teams, and cross-functional partners to assist with projects, process improvements, and ongoing data management initiatives.
Who You Are:
-
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related field, and four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant GIS experience.
-
Demonstrated experience working with ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS Enterprise in a production environment.
-
Strong knowledge of GIS data structures, geodatabases, spatial referencing systems, coordinate systems, and geoprocessing techniques.
-
Experience editing and maintaining spatial data, including land parcels, boundary datasets, and associated attribute information.
-
Working knowledge of Python scripting (ArcPy preferred), ESRI ModelBuilder, and FME for GIS automation and data integration.
-
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with a dedication to data accuracy and quality.
-
Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capability to convey technical GIS information to non-technical audiences.
Preferred:
-
Experience supporting GIS programs within the energy, infrastructure, utilities, or environmental sectors.
-
Knowledge of land and right-of-way concepts, including easements, leases, acquisitions, legal land descriptions, and cadastral data management.
-
Experience operating within enterprise GIS environments and data governance frameworks.
-
Familiarity with ArcGIS Maps for Power BI and GIS-based reporting solutions.
-
Exposure to external spatial data sources, including CAD files, survey data, parcel updates, and shapefiles.
Working Conditions:

Office-based position with limited travel requirements.
-
Work is primarily performed in a computer-based environment requiring frequent use of GIS software, mapping applications, and data management tools.

Occasional collaboration with business partners across multiple locations in Canada and the United States.

Position may be located in Calgary, Edmonton, Edina, Duluth, or Houston.
Physical Requirements consist of, but are not limited to:
The role involves grasping, kneeling, and lifting objects weighing up to 20 pounds with light to moderate effort. It requires reaching above the shoulder, performing repetitive motions, typing, sitting, and standing. Candidates must have visual ability to see screens, recognize color coding, and read fine print. Hearing ability and the capacity to sit at a computer for extended periods are also necessary.

Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral or written instructions and information. You can grasp complex problems and work with others to find alternative solutions. You coordinate thoughts and ideas clearly. You prioritize and manage your short-term work schedule. You make decisions that moderately affect your work unit and monitor effects beyond it. You follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, write letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports, and communicate by phone.
Salary:

Ranges from $80,500– $110,000 USD for US locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.
