Functional Consultant jobs

The client is seeking a Functional Analyst with 8+ years of experience to work within the context of implementing acquired commercial software packages, not traditional in-house development.

The core of the role is not writing business requirements: it's understanding and documenting software package configuration choices, analyzing their impact on application integrations, and ensuring the traceability of decisions over time. The recurring keywords in the description (configuration, integration, software package, traceability, end-to-end testing) indicate a hybrid functional and technical profile, comfortable communicating with architects, technical analysts, and software vendors.

The project is currently being delivered, so the candidate will be joining a project already underway and must be operational without a lengthy onboarding period. The role includes a real testing workload (strategy definition, manual and automated execution, coordination of integrated tests and UAT) and a component focused on securing intersystem communications, which excludes a purely documentation analyst.

The group insurance domain, and particularly pricing, is a major differentiator, even though it is not listed as a formal requirement.

Main Responsibilities

• Define functional specifications, business rules, exception cases, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the delivery teams.

• Participate in defining the various scopes (epics, stories, releases, sprints, trials, and projects).

• Collaborate with application delivery managers and stakeholders to define requirements and manage product backlogs.

• Document current and target business processes. Produce and maintain the required functional documentation.

• Document software package configuration choices and their impact on business processes and application integrations.

• Analyze the impact of configuration changes on the solution architecture and application lifecycle.

• Contribute to the development and implementation of functional testing strategies.

• Define, prepare, and execute manual and automated tests from an end-to-end perspective.

• Provide coordination and support during integration testing and user acceptance testing.

• Support implementation, stabilization, incident management, and troubleshooting activities.

• Collaborate with architects, technical analysts, developers, and software vendors to ensure solution consistency.

• Understand and document configuration choices. Evaluate possible alternatives and their impacts.

• Analyze the effects of configurations on application integrations. Ensure traceability of functional and technological decisions.

• Support the evolution of the configuration over time and throughout its lifecycle.

• Contribute to aligning application components, business needs, and integration mechanisms.

• Active participation in work related to securing intersystem exchanges and integration architectures will also be expected.

Requirements

Requirements Qualification Table

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Business Analysis or IT Analysis

• Significant experience in transformation projects involving packaged software solutions (COTS/ERP/proprietary software)

• Experience in an Agile environment (epics, user stories, releases, sprints, backlogs)

• Proficiency in spoken and written French

• Documentation of functional specifications, business rules, exception cases, and acceptance criteria

• Definition, preparation, and execution of end-to-end functional testing, including coordination of integrated testing and UAT

Desired

• Impact analysis of packaged software configuration choices on business processes and application integrations

• Collaboration with architects, technical analysts, developers, and packaged software vendors

• Exposure to inter-system integration and secure data exchange initiatives

• Support for implementation, stabilization, and incident management activities

ASSET

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline

• Proficiency in English

• Experience in group insurance, particularly pricing/rating

• Automated testing experience

• Profile focused solely on in-house development, with no work on acquired commercial solutions.

• Analyst who documents without participating in testing; no test execution or coordination involved.

• Pure QA profile or test analyst without producing functional specifications and business rules.

• Candidate unable to write functional documentation in French.
