YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
COMMUNITY GROUP CARE (Manhattan Place & Wellington House)
VARIOUS SHIFT LINES (Full-Time / Part-Time / Relief)
CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT POOL - APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED YEAR-ROUND
Meaningful work. Lasting impact.
At McMan Calgary & Area, connection is at our core. Every year, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of more than 5,000 children, youth, adults, and families by providing programs and services that support those with complex needs - including mental health challenges, addictions, homelessness, poverty, and disabilities. We believe in everyone’s deep and infinite worth, and no matter who you are, we will walk alongside you.
Through our work, we rebuild, integrate, and strengthen connections - to self, peers, families, communities, support professionals, and the land - because people need people. Our sense of well-being, identity, and belonging comes from relationships, and healing happens through these connections. Professional supports are there for a season or a reason - not a lifetime - because our goal is to empower individuals and families to thrive independently.
About our Continuous Talent Pool
To ensure our group homes are always fully supported by qualified, compassionate professionals, McMan maintains a Continuous Recruitment Pool for Youth Development Coordinators.
- How it works: We accept and review applications on an ongoing basis.
- What happens next: When full-time, part-time, or relief/casual positions open up at Manhattan Place or Wellington House, we pull directly from this pre-screened pool to conduct interviews.
- Scheduling: These positions work a combination of days, evenings, and weekends. Primary shift lines are discussed during the interview stage based on your availability and our active program needs.
- Flexibility: While a primary shift line may be allocated upon hire, our staff must be flexible to temporarily reassign between homes to address short-term coverage needs.
Our Community Group Care Homes
Manhattan Place is a community-based group home for five male and male-identifying complex youth aged 12–17 who are referred through Children and Family Services. This home provides a safe and stable living environment with individualized support and around the clock care for these youth. Manhattan Place works closely with the youth to strengthen relationships with their families and friends and foster connections in the community.
Wellington House is a community-based reunification home supporting a sibling group of seven youth aged 8–15 who are referred through Stoney Nakoda Family Services. This home provides a safe and stable living environment with individualized support and around the clock care for sibling groups. This program will also have a strong cultural component, with a focus on strengthening relationships and supporting Indigenous young people and their families toward reunification.
The Role
The Youth Development Coordinator will take on a caregiving role within the group home by providing a caring and nurturing home environment that is committed to ensuring daily needs are met in a safe and supportive way. The Youth Development Coordinator will practice from a trauma-informed framework to embed a youth development approach that is both strength based and relationship based. The incumbent is expected to model a collaborative, cooperative approach focused on the personal, social, cultural and educational development of youth.
Through the provision of day-to-day care, providing case management, setting goals with youth, liaising with caseworkers, working with natural supports, and preparing youth for transition, the Youth Development Coordinator will teach life skills, and help youth establish normal routines while promoting their overall well-being.
