With approximately 900 employees, we operate a fleet of 45+ aircraft including the Metro 2, 3, 23, Merlin and Dash 8 aircraft. We are based in Winnipeg and Thompson, Manitoba as well as Sioux Lookout, Timmins, Thunder Bay, and Toronto Ontario. We provide scheduled passenger and freight services to Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, 24/7 North American charter services, Medical evacuation services and a full-service maintenance facility including design engineering, NDT, and Garrett turbine engine services.

Reporting to the Manager, Ramp Operations, the Main Terminal Ramp Supervisor will be leading, directing and coordinating the efforts of all services for airlines as contracted. Take accountability for safety, operation standards and policy implementation for the ramp operations, ensuring that efficiency and on-time performance expectations are met.

- Participate in daily toolbox talks
- Establish shift assignments for employees
- Ensure that services provided are entered and tracked accurately for each flight
- Oversee aircraft grooming to ensure that cleanliness standards are met and maintained
- Ensure that crews are being briefed before flights
- Oversee the safe and efficient daily frontline operations of the Ramp department
- Responsible for ground handling of aircraft, loading and unloading of cargo and baggage and the organization of the baggage room and apron
- Supervise and mentor the accurate loading and unloading of aircraft in accordance with regulatory requirements and aircraft manufacturer specifications in an efficient manner
- Maximize cargo payload while maintaining on-time performance, all without jeopardizing safety or regulatory compliance
- Ensure continuous compliance with safety policies and regulations, while properly utilizing equipment and materials
- Maintain Certification of Dangerous Goods regulations and requirements, particularly as it relates to aircraft loading requirements
- Actively participate and offer suggestions and/or recommendations towards department improvements, e.g. attending operational meetings, safety meetings
- Ensure that all new and existing employees are trained and supplied with necessary resources to obtain a RAIC and applicable AVOP, safety equipment, and electronic communication devices
- Ensure that ground support equipment is available and functioning to support operations
- Provide assistance and support for any/all staff performance and disciplinary issues that may arise in the Ramp Department
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Must possess valid driver’s license
- Must be able to qualify for and obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP)
- Must have either heavy equipment or main deck cargo loader experience
- Jet or larger aircraft experience considered an asset
- 737 combi mod experience considered an asset
- Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset
- Previous supervisory experience is required
- Knowledge of Amelia computer system is considered an asset
- Cultural Diversity training considered an asset
- Airline experience considered an asset
- Forklift license or completed applicable training considered an asset
- Physically able to perform all listed job duties
- Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all weather conditions
- Work performed in multiple environments. Contact with staff and the general public.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephone
- In good general health and the ability to lift and bend, carrying loads of up to 75lbs
- Ability to carry and operate a radio
- Shiftwork may be required (days, evenings and/or night shift)
- Work around and with machines and loud noises
- Wear safety equipment as required (e.g. hearing protection, safety vest, protective footwear, and ramp passes when on ramp)
