POSITION:

KIDZ CLUB After School Care Worker

EMPLOYER:

Sechelt Community Schools

DAYS & HOURS:

Casual and part time,Monday to Friday, 2pm - 5:30pm

Additional hours for staff meetings, Professional Development (Pro D), Early Dismissal Days and school breaks will be scheduled.

WAGE:

Starts at $23.50 per hour, $24 after 3 months.

Sechelt Early Years Centre

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The KIDZ CLUB Worker initiates activities, helps prepare snack, and supervises children in Kindergarten to Grade 5, in accordance with Ministry Childcare Regulations. Working with the KIDZ CLUB Manager, the Worker:

  • Creates a welcoming environment for children
  • Connects and communicates with children and parents in a warm and respectful manner
  • Helps implement arts, crafts, games and physical activities for a wide range of ages and developmental stages
  • Provides safe supervision of free play activities
  • Helps children problem solve, develop friendship skills and resolve conflicts
  • Is active, fun, playful, while setting clear boundaries as necessary
  • Helps children who are struggling to co-regulate, using numerous strategies

REQUIREMENTS

All staff must provide:

  • A clear criminal record check
  • Immunization record/or letter of conscientious objection
  • Current Emergency Childcare First Aid certificate (or equivalent)
  • Three references

QUALIFICATIONS

  • previous experience working with school aged children
  • 20 hours of completed courses relating to child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition e.g. Responsible Adult Course through CCRR.
