The Company

Synergy Semiochemicals is a small, science-based manufacturing company specializing in semiochemical products for forest and tree protection. We synthesize or purchase insect pheromones and kairomones then formulate them into slow release devices. Our applied expertise is in forest entomology serving customers globally. We provide controlled release devices, technical support and collaborative research focused on the monitoring and control of insects that damage trees. Our typical customers are found in government agencies, forestry professionals, academic researchers, farmers/growers and land managers globally. Our products are used as key components in IPM programs aimed at reducing insecticide use. We believe strongly in educating our customers to help them make informed decisions about the use of our products.

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time, in-house Sales Associate to support both customer-facing sales activities and assist with some marketing initiatives. The major focus for this position is scientific technical sales. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in forest entomology and chemical ecology, with a mindset to work in a small business environment The position is well suited to candidates with a background or strong interest in science, environmental studies, forestry, biology, or other related technical disciplines who enjoy learning specialized products and working directly with customers. It requires the ability to learn the details of our products and then be able to communicate this information to customers. You will be the front line of customer intake communicating via emails, phone calls and website quote requests. You will be responsible for determining/confirming the customers’ needs and then providing them with an accurate quote for the specific products they require. This position necessitates cooperation with other Synergy staff to ensure the correct approach to helping a customer. You must be familiar with chemistry and biology and enjoy talking about insects and trees.

Responsibilities

· Respond to website quote requests and technical product inquiries

· Answer incoming phone calls and customer emails

· Communicate technical product information clearly and accurately

· Determine customer needs

· Provide accurate quotes and sales orders in a timely manner

· Provide customer service and support to resolve issues professionally

· Support group orders and distributor orders, including coordination and follow-up

· Maintain accurate customer and order records using “OrderTime” software

· Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and distributors

· Support lead generation and customer outreach initiatives with senior staff

Additional Responsibilities

· Cross-training in other aspects of the business as required in a small-team environment including order fulfilment, packaging and shipping.

· Assist with biology field work when possible to learn about the use of insect Semiochemicals in the field.

· Provide general administrative or operational support as needed

Qualifications

· Previous knowledge of insect chemical ecology and forest entomology preferred

· BSc in biology, chemistry, chemical ecology or related field required

· Background or strong interest in science-based, technical, environmental, forestry, or manufacturing fields

· 1 year of experience in sales

· Comfortable with technical sales and explaining products to customers

· Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

· Additional languages an asset

· Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities

· Comfortable working independently and also as a team member in a small business setting where daily job demands can vary.

· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, email marketing platforms, websites, digital marketing tools and AI is an asset

· Must be eligible to work in Canada
