Full job description

We're Hiring an In-Home High School English Tutor-Mentor in Kenora

TutorBright is looking for a warm, reliable Tutor-Mentor in Kenora to support a local high school student with English, academic skills, organization, study habits, and confidence.

We currently have a student in Kenora ready to begin tutoring.

At TutorBright, our tutors are also mentors. You'll help students strengthen their academic skills while building confidence, independence, resilience, and a more positive relationship with learning.

Hours & Commitment

  • Sessions are typically 1 hour and regularly scheduled
  • Sessions primarily take place after school, in the evenings, and on weekends
  • We are looking for Tutor-Mentors who can work consistently with their students throughout the school year

What We're Looking For

  • Confident supporting high school English, including reading comprehension, writing, essays, and assignments
  • Comfortable helping with organization, homework completion, assignment planning, and study skills
  • Warm, engaging, patient, and encouraging
  • Able to build a strong relationship with students who may need extra support with motivation or confidence
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, organized, and able to provide consistent support
  • Able to commute independently to students' homes in Kenora
  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from college or university preferred

We Are Especially Interested in Candidates Who Can Support

  • Grade 11-12 English
  • Essay and paragraph writing
  • Reading comprehension and written responses
  • Multi-step and open-ended assignments
  • Organization and time management
  • Study skills and homework routines
  • Students who struggle with focus, motivation, or academic confidence

Nice to Have

  • Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, coaching, or youth-focused experience
  • Enrolment in or completion of a Bachelor of Education program
  • Experience supporting different learning styles or learning needs
  • Experience working with teenagers
  • Access to a reliable vehicle

You do not need to teach every subject listed above. We encourage you to apply if you are confident supporting high school English and helping students develop stronger academic habits.
