North Rock Truck & Tire is a fleet focused automotive repair facility in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We provide vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance, and a full range of repair services.

North Rock Truck & Tire is one of Thunder Bay’s leading tire suppliers. We are an authorized Michelin dealer and carry a large selection of Michelin, BF Goodrich and Uniroyal tires. We also stock many other tire brands you know and trust, such as Bridgestone, Firestone, Yokohama and Cooper.

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to oversee the daily operations of our fleet-focused automotive repair and tire facility. This is a working management role requiring active involvement in quoting repair work, selling commercial and PLT tires, managing workflow, supervising staff, and ensuring the shop operates efficiently and profitably.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assume overall responsibility for the daily operations, performance, and profitability of the automotive repair shop, commercial tire division, PLT tire division, and front sales area.
  • Manage and be accountable for the Profit & Loss performance of the business, including sales growth, gross profit, labour efficiency, expense control, and operational productivity.
  • Lead the team in achieving monthly sales, gross profit, and operational performance targets.
  • Oversee all shop workflow and daily production to ensure repairs and installations are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to company quality standards.
  • Prepare accurate repair estimates, quotations, and work orders while ensuring labour and materials are billed accurately and appropriately.
  • Safeguard company assets, including parts and tire inventory, by ensuring proper inventory controls, receiving procedures, storage practices, cycle counts, and loss prevention measures are followed.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the software systems, operational processes, and point-of-sale systems that drive the business, and act as an internal subject matter expert for staff support and operational compliance.
  • Ensure company policies, operational procedures, and administrative standards are consistently followed throughout all departments.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and customer retention.
  • Prepare weekly staff schedules and manage staffing levels to support operational requirements and productivity goals.
  • Monitor employee attendance, productivity, professionalism, and overall performance while promoting a safe and respectful workplace.
  • Ensure all staff follow safe work practices, company procedures, and applicable workplace safety requirements.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.
  • Assist with the ongoing development and improvement of operational processes, administrative procedures, and workflow efficiencies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong background in automotive repair with mechanical knowledge.
  • Proven customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Experience in sales, particularly in automotive services and tires.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and performance improvement.
