Restaurant & Floor Manager

Marcin Bowl & Gutterballs

Point Edward, ON

$21- $25/hour, minimum 36 hours/week

Marcin Bowl & Gutterballs is looking for an experienced, hands-on Restaurant & Operations Manager to help lead our restaurant, bar, bowling centre, and overall guest experience.

We are specifically looking for someone with previous restaurant and/or bartending experience who also has experience leading or managing a team.

Management experience in restaurants, hospitality, recreation, entertainment, or other fast-paced customer-facing environments is strongly preferred.

This is not an office management position.

We are looking for someone who will lead from the front, work alongside their team, and jump into the operation wherever they are needed.

Our Restaurant & Operations Manager is expected to be visible, involved, and actively supporting the team throughout the shift. You should be comfortable moving between the restaurant, bar, front desk, bowling floor, events, and guest concerns as needed.

We’re looking for someone who can walk into a busy Saturday night, quickly understand what the team needs, make decisions, keep service moving, and lead by example.

What You’ll Be Responsible For Restaurant & Bar Leadership

A major part of this position is supporting our restaurant and bar operations.

You will:

  • Oversee restaurant and bar service during your shifts
  • Support and coach servers and bartenders
  • Monitor food ticket times and overall service flow
  • Help coordinate communication between the kitchen, bar, and front-of-house team
  • Step behind the bar or assist with service when needed
  • Ensure Smart Serve requirements and responsible alcohol service are followed
  • Handle guest concerns involving food, beverage, or service
  • Monitor cleanliness, presentation, and overall dining experience
  • Coach staff on suggestive selling and upselling food, beverages, and promotions

Previous restaurant, serving, and/or bartending experience is strongly preferred for this role.

Lead From the Front

This is a hands-on management role.

Our Restaurant & Operations Manager is expected to work alongside employees throughout the shift and set the standard for service, professionalism, cleanliness, and work ethic.

You will:

  • Work alongside employees in different positions as operational needs change
  • Cover employee breaks and help ensure proper staffing coverage
  • Step into the restaurant, bar, front desk, or other guest-facing roles during busy periods
  • Assist staff when they become overwhelmed instead of simply directing from the sidelines
  • Help with general facility cleaning and upkeep during quieter periods
  • Ensure guest areas, restaurant spaces, washrooms, and common areas remain clean and presentable
  • Restock and help prepare the building for upcoming business when there is downtime
  • Complete opening and closing procedures when scheduled
  • Secure the facility properly at close
  • Ensure team opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities are completed before staff leave

We are looking for someone who understands that leadership here means being willing to do the same work you expect from your team.

Lead the Team

As the senior leader on the floor, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and support servers, bartenders, front desk staff, lane attendants, and other team members
  • Set expectations and priorities at the beginning of each shift
  • Run quick pre-shift meetings and communicate bookings, leagues, events, promotions, and operational needs
  • Delegate responsibilities and adjust staffing as business levels change
  • Manage breaks and ensure proper coverage throughout the building
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback
  • Recognize strong performance and address performance concerns when necessary
  • Handle punctuality, attendance, and workplace issues professionally
  • Step into different roles when the team needs support
  • Take ownership of the shift when challenges arise

We’re looking for someone who understands that good management means supporting the team while still holding people accountable.

Deliver a Great Guest Experience

You will be expected to be visible and approachable throughout the building.

That includes:

  • Regularly checking in with guests
  • Resolving complaints calmly and professionally
  • Identifying problems before they become complaints
  • Creating a welcoming, energetic atmosphere
  • Interacting comfortably with families, league bowlers, corporate groups, tournament participants, and restaurant guests
  • Speaking confidently over a microphone for announcements, leagues, tournaments, and special events
  • Helping turn service issues into positive guest experiences

Keep the Building Running

Marcin Bowl is more than a restaurant, and this position plays an important role in coordinating the entire facility.

You will:

  • Oversee day-to-day floor operations
  • Coordinate communication between the restaurant, bar, kitchen, front desk, and back shop
  • Monitor lane availability and guest flow
  • Assist when lane or equipment issues arise
  • Support leagues, birthday parties, tournaments, corporate events, and large groups
  • Ensure opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities are completed
  • Conduct regular facility walkthroughs
  • Monitor supplies and communicate inventory needs
  • Open and close the facility securely when scheduled
  • Respond to safety, cleanliness, or operational concerns quickly
  • Adjust staffing and responsibilities as business levels change throughout the shift

Help Drive Sales

We want a manager who understands that strong hospitality and strong sales go together.

You will:

  • Communicate daily and weekly sales goals
  • Encourage staff to recommend food, beverages, bowling packages, and add-ons
  • Coach employees on effective, natural upselling
  • Help execute promotions, themed nights, and special events
  • Ensure promotional materials and signage are current
  • Watch how guests respond to promotions and provide feedback to management
  • Celebrate team wins and help motivate staff toward sales goals

Who We’re Looking For

This position is best suited for someone who:

  • Has previous restaurant, serving, bartending, or hospitality experience
  • Has previous management, supervisory, shift-lead, or team-lead experience
  • Is comfortable managing both people and guest situations
  • Can stay organized when several things need attention at once
  • Is confident making decisions without waiting for someone else to step in
  • Knows how to delegate effectively
  • Is comfortable coaching and correcting employees
  • Understands restaurant service standards and the importance of food and drink timing
  • Is willing to work alongside the team rather than supervise from a distance
  • Can jump behind the bar, help serve, support the front desk, clean, restock, or assist elsewhere when needed
  • Communicates clearly and professionally
  • Is comfortable speaking in front of groups and using a microphone
  • Takes initiative and notices what needs attention
  • Maintains professionalism during high-volume or stressful situations
  • Enjoys working in a busy, social, guest-focused environment
  • Understands that downtime should be used productively to clean, prepare, restock, and improve the facility

Qualifications

Required or must be willing to obtain:

  • Smart Serve
  • Food Handler Certification
  • First Aid/CPR

Availability

This is a minimum 36-hour-per-week position and requires flexible availability.

Candidates must be available for a combination of: Days, Evenings, Weekends, Holidays

Evening and weekend availability is essential.

Because this is a management position, there may occasionally be situations where additional coverage is required.

Why Work at Marcin Bowl?

Marcin Bowl & Gutterballs combines restaurant and bar service, bowling, entertainment, leagues, tournaments, parties, corporate events, and community events under one roof.

That means this isn’t a management job where every shift looks the same.

One night you could be leading the restaurant through a dinner rush. The next you may be coordinating a packed league night, helping with a corporate event, resolving a guest concern, supporting the bar, covering a break, cleaning and resetting the facility, or getting on the microphone to make an announcement.

We want someone who enjoys that kind of environment.

Someone who sees a busy restaurant, full bowling centre, and team that needs direction and thinks:

“Let’s go.”

If you have strong restaurant/bartending and management experience, know how to lead a team, and want a management position where you’re actively involved in the operation, we’d love to hear from you.
