The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in a safety role of similar scope within construction, NCSO certification, and a strong track record with COR programs, ideally COR 2020.
Why Join LAURIN?
At LAURIN, we believe a great career is built on more than just a paycheck — it’s built on stability, support, and opportunity. Our total rewards package is designed to recognize your contributions and help you thrive both professionally and personally.
- Competitive compensation that reflects your skills, experience, and impact.
- Annual discretionary profit-sharing program.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family.
- Prescription drug coverage and access to telemedicine services.
- Life, AD&D, and disability insurance for financial peace of mind.
- Mental health and wellness support through our Employee Assistance Program.
- Paid vacation, sick days, and personal days to recharge and stay balanced.
- Paid volunteer days to support causes that matter to you and our communities.
- Retirement savings plan with employer matching.
- Inclusive, safety-first culture where every person is respected.
- Ongoing opportunities to grow, including training, mentorship, and career advancement.
Your Impact at LAURIN
As an HSE Coordinator, you will work closely with project teams, supervisors, and subcontractors to maintain high standards of safety, develop and implement Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) and Emergency Response Plans (ERPs), and ensure that all regulatory and company requirements are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all workers and visitors receive site safety orientation, including review and documentation of the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP), Hazard Identification, and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Verify that all workers have the required training and certifications to safely perform their tasks.
- Escort and supervise visitors lacking required training or certifications while on site.
- Monitor safety compliance of workers and subcontractors through regular formal and informal site inspections; initiate corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure weekly completion of site inspection reports from the Site Supervisor and track resolution of identified deficiencies.
- Maintain and update Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binders as required.
- Lead incident, injury, and near-miss reporting; complete investigation and corrective action reports.
- Report all incidents and injuries to the Safety Manager promptly.
- Assist in rescue operations and/or administer first aid when required.
- Oversee the day-to-day administration and management of site EHS programs.
- Conduct field safety meetings, toolbox talks, and health and safety awareness sessions.
- Administer, document, and manage the company’s COR program, ideally including COR 2020 compliance.
- Keep site management and Safety Manager informed of any issues that could impact work or safety compliance.
- Co-chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including completing and distributing meeting minutes and posting updates on site monthly.
- Chair the Worker’s Trades Committee, including completing and distributing meeting minutes and posting updates on site monthly.
- Serve as the Safety Representative on site, performing all associated duties.
- Utilize SiteDocs to manage, track, and maintain all site safety documentation and records.
- Other duties as required to support the safe and compliant execution of construction activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a safety role equivalent to this position within construction projects.
- NCSO certification required.
- Demonstrated experience developing Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) and Emergency Response Plans (ERPs).
- Familiarity with COR programs, ideally COR 2020.
- Experience using SiteDocs or similar EHS documentation software.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites.
- Proven ability to monitor, enforce, and improve safety compliance under fast-paced conditions.
Education & Professional Credentials
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or related experience.
- NCSO certification, with other designations such as CRSP considered an asset.
- COR Internal Auditor
- First Aid Certification
Eligibility & Security Requirements
At LAURIN, many of our projects require specific employment and security conditions. To be considered, candidates must:
- Be legally authorized to work in Canada. Please note that LAURIN does not provide or assume sponsorship for work permits or visas.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance (Secret clearance is considered an asset).
- Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in Canada (e.g., valid work permit or Social Insurance Number). All offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance.
