POSITION SUMMARY

The Mechanic is a fully competent technical role responsible for independently diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining fleet vehicles and equipment. This role plays a critical part in protecting fleet uptime, supporting recurring revenue operations, and enabling major project execution through reliable asset performance.

Mechanics are trusted to complete work independently, identify underlying mechanical issues, and apply durable repair solutions that reduce repeat failures and unplanned downtime.

CORE COMPETENCIES

Independent Maintenance & Repair

  • Independently diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform corrective repairs to fleet assets.
  • Execute preventative maintenance programs in accordance with fleet standards, schedules, and service requirements.
  • Complete complex work orders accurately, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
  • Select appropriate repair approaches using service manuals, diagnostic outputs, and professional judgment.

Uptime & Reliability Support

  • Minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting and durable, repeatable repair solutions.
  • Identify recurring issues, emerging failure patterns, or reliability risks and communicate findings to the Lead Mechanic or Supervisor.
  • Support rapid asset turnaround during peak operational demand or project-driven execution periods.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing technical insights and lessons learned.

Safety, Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure all maintenance and repair work meets safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately to support audit readiness, billing accuracy, and lifecycle tracking.
  • Maintain clean, organized workspaces and properly cared-for tools and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 4–8 years of progressive experience maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, or specialized construction assets.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Experience supporting mixed fleets, including trucks, trailers, off-road equipment, and support assets.
  • Aerial Equipment, Digger Derricks, Bucket Trucks, stringing equipment knowledge would be asset
  • Ability to interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic tool outputs.
  • Strong understanding of safety, inspection, and documentation requirements in regulated, safety-sensitive environments.
  • Journeyperson / Red Seal certification (Automotive Service Technician, Truck & Transport, or Heavy Equipment Technician), or equivalent trade qualification, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with fleet maintenance systems (CMMS), digital work orders, and inspection tracking tools is an asset.

Pay: $55.00-$75.00 per hour
