About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy delivering client and industry driven solutions through our 5 core specialist Practices; Software Engineering, Data & Analytics, IT Operations, Change & Transformation, and Risk, Regulation & Compliance.

FDM is seeking a Mainframe Production Support Engineer located in Montreal to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 18 months but may be extended.

This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week.

About You

We’re specifically looking for a senior resource, ideally with prior mainframe experience, who can bring both support and engineering expertise to the team.
Quick Overview :
  • Technical stack focus: DB2, JCL, VSAM, COBOL.
  • Immediate priorities: participate in knowledge transfer sessions and ensure BAU stability.
  • Location: Montreal - We welcome applications from candidates based anywhere in Canada, with preference for those able to support onsite requirements as needed.
What we're looking for :
  • 7+ years mainframe production support
  • Strong expertise: IMS, DB2, COBOL
  • JCL, SORT, ICETOOL proficiency
  • Experience handling production job failures and BAU support
  • Deployment and implementation planning exposure
  • Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder communication
  • VSAM dataset management
  • Ability to deliver quick fixes for batch failures
  • Exposure to modern tools (VS Code, Copilot) is a plus
