Full job description

Barrhill Feeders Inc. is searching for a full-time Feedlot Barn Labourer to join our progressive and growing team. Barrhill Feeders Inc. is currently feeding 75 000 head between two feedlot operations located 10 miles North of Picture Butte, AB or 10 miles East of Barons, AB. As a Barn Labourer, you are responsible for the processing of incoming cattle, implanting, shipping outgoing cattle, assisting with feedlot maintenance, equipment operation, and other feedlot duties as required.

Major Responsibilities:

- Process incoming cattle as outlined by the Veterinarian protocols.

- Reimplant cattle as per implant schedule made by the Foreman following Veterinarian protocols.

- Sort and handle cattle in a safe and calm manner.

- Shipping and receiving cattle at the feedlot.

- Assist in keeping barn, chutes, and processing areas clean, tidy, and maintained.

- Communicate to Foreman any irregularities.

- Follow Foreman instructions or recommendations.

- Other feedlot duties such as, but not limited to bedding, processing, yard maintenance, and driving equipment such as a skidsteer and/or loader.

Experience/Skills Required:

- Valid driver’s license.

- Good attitude and team player.

- Self-motivated.

- Attention to detail.

- Good communication skills.

- Experience in processing cattle and the feedlot industry (preferred, but not required).

- Cattle handling skills (preferred, but not required).

- Experience with operating equipment (loader, tractor, etc.) (preferred, but not required).

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

- Working directly with cattle on foot.

- Repetitive tasks.

- Ability to lift 60 lbs.

- Combination of standing and walking.

- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions.

- Use of computerized processing system.

Hours:

- Shift: Monday-Friday, and weekends as needed.

- 6:30 AM- 4:30 PM (subject to change based on the time of year).

Transportation:

- Own transportation, valid driver’s license.
