Position Summary

Baymag is seeking a Research & Development Specialist to lead and support research initiatives that drive product innovation, process optimization, and business growth. Reporting to the Director of R&D, Quality and Process, this role provides technical expertise across the organization, manages laboratory and field research activities, and collaborates closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Sales teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong professional who enjoys hands-on research, data analysis, problem-solving, and working in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote safe work practices in all research and laboratory activities.
  • Coordinate and execute R&D projects supporting product development, process improvements, and new technologies.
  • Develop project proposals, test plans, technical reports, and recommendations.
  • Conduct laboratory and plant trials and analyze results to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to optimize calcining and milling processes.
  • Investigate customer complaints, competitor products, and technical opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to customers and assist with troubleshooting product applications.
  • Monitor industry developments and emerging technologies relevant to Baymag's products and operations.
  • Support continuous improvement of quality systems and laboratory capabilities.
  • Supervise laboratory technicians and assigned personnel involved in research activities.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of quality control laboratory operations in the absence of the Quality Control Supervisor.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in mineral processing or materials manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience conducting physical and chemical testing and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.

· Ability to travel to customer sites, research facilities, and industry-related events.

Preferred

  • Experience in process optimization, product development, or industrial research.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and laboratory operations.
  • Experience working in mining, minerals processing, cement, refractories, or related industries.
