Full job description

Reed Energy Group INC. is looking for a Quality Control Lead / Welding inspector to join our team in Grande Prairie. This is a full time position based out of our facility in Grande Prairie, AB.

Daily Job responsibilities and task in addition may include:

  • Coordinating QC activities with the QC manager for workers engaged in:
  • Inspecting incoming materials, spools & goods.
  • Piping components and finished fabricated products.
  • Adherence to construction codes, Reed Energy Group’s Quality Management System and client specifications
  • Leading and directing others in QC functions based on training and Reed Energy Group’s applicable organization chart.

Individual and self-driven tasks such as:

  • Reviewing customer specifications to ensure requirements and responsibilities are adequately defined and documented prior to the commencement of work.
  • Inspecting various piping components and advising of: defects, non-conformances and any adjustments needed to meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Converse with customer representatives to execute acceptable corrective actions.
  • Notifying vendors of any non-conformance or unacceptable materials or services.
  • Completing/ Maintaining significant QC records and documents in accordance of applicable codes and customer specifications.
  • Use of Reed Energy Group computer programs and industry piping systems as well as the support to others in the use of documentation, forms and completion of QC records.

Field and shop floor activities can require: All aspects associated with weld inspection and NDE completion checks.

  • Inventory checks for welding consumables handling & storage.
  • Various equipment calibration and weld parameter checks.
  • Drawing reviews and drafting as needed.
  • Bolt torque mapping and data entry.
  • Hydrostatic test package review and witnessing of tests being preformed

Physical requirements and job preparedness:

  • Ability to walk, stand or sit for periods of time either at shop, office or site settings as required in accordance with Reed Health & Safety policies.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation to Reed office to start each shift.
  • Industry safety tickets and certifications which include: Standard First Aid, H2S Awareness training, and others relevant to work site access.
  • Office appropriate dress attire as well as PPE for shop floor and site access as needed.

Other job tasks or supporting skill sets that ensure our work environment is in keeping with our values and goals.

  • CWB Level 1 with b31.3 and W59 endorsments.
  • Comprehension of Welding & Pipefitting practices
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Effective time management and process reporting abilities
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft office programs, bluebeam, Adobe and Acorn pipe software.
  • Leadership and mentoring of others within the organization on QC functions
  • Knowledge and experience with Code Standards, Preventative Measures & auditing processes
  • Positive attitude and team building mind-set
  • Accurate record keeping, filing and data base updating as it pertains to projects, QC records, payroll and personal time tracking any supportive safety records as well (if requested).
