Highlights of the job

EPCOR’s award-winning Communications & Public Engagement team is looking to hire an Advisor, Employee Communications [temporary, full time, up to 12 months] working out of Edmonton, AB.

This position is eligible for our hybrid Where We Work program

What you’d be responsible for

  • Delivering strategic employee communications planning, execution and support for company-wide initiatives, and corporate and business unit clients.
  • Leveraging and optimizing various communication channels to engage employees and enhance corporate culture. This involves maintaining high standards for traditional and digital internal communications channels, including the employee intranet, e-mail, digital screens and other emerging tools and channels.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional areas to deliver cohesive communications products, achieve shared outcomes and nurture a unified employee experience.
  • Monitoring shared employee communication channels and tools (i.e. shared inboxes, intranet comments, etc.) and actioning as necessary
  • Managing activities related to the maintenance of corporate communications channels (intranet, email, digital screens, etc.) including process documentation, governance activities, troubleshooting and training.
  • Managing reporting activities that outline the performance of corporate communication activities.
  • Supporting EPCOR’s Communications & Public Engagement On-Call team rotation in reviewing, assessing and responding to requests and issues in order to maintain our reputation as a caring, committed utility provider.

What’s required to be successful

  • Successful completion of a 2-year diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Marketing.
    • Bachelor’s degree is considered an asset.
  • 4+ years’ experience in internal and external communications.
  • Experience related to utilities, electricity or the energy sector is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Sharepoint and Google Analytics.

Technical
skills:
  • Knowledge and use of current digital channels and engagement platforms.
  • Solid project management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Big picture thinker who links business goals / priorities and company positions to their work.
  • Actively uses social media and stays current with emerging digital platforms and trends.

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering effective, measurable communications strategies and plans, drawing on a range of channels.

Wage: Starting at $49.93 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and are based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.)
Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
