The Ontario Learning Development Foundation (OLDF) is seeking organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative youth and recent graduates to join our editorial team as Associate (Copy) Editors & Editorial Coordinators.
OLDF is a registered Canadian charity committed to transforming communities through integrated educational and community-response empowerment initiatives for children, youth, newcomers, seniors, and families. Our programs promote education, youth empowerment, storytelling, leadership, and community engagement.
This role is ideal for individuals with strong editing, communication, organizational, and project coordination skills who are interested in digital publishing, editorial production, and community-based media.
Successful candidates will work across multiple magazine editions and publication projects while supporting writers, editors, and creative teams to ensure publication content is completed, revised, organized, and prepared for final production.
This role requires strong communication, editorial judgment, follow-up, time management, and organizational skills to ensure assigned articles, stories, and publication materials move successfully from draft stage to final publication.

Role Summary
The Associate Editor & Editorial Coordinator supports the editorial workflow and publication process for OLDF’s magazines and digital publications.This role requires strong communication, editorial judgment, follow-up, time management, and organizational skills to ensure assigned articles, stories, and publication materials move successfully from draft stage to final publication.
The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple publication timelines simultaneously while working closely with writers, editors, and creative teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Proofread and edit articles, stories, and publication materials using Canadian Press and OLDF house style guidelines
- Review content for:
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Syntax
- Clarity
- Consistency
- Structure
- Publication readiness
- Work directly with writers and contributors to provide editorial feedback and revision requests
- Follow up with writers to ensure edits, updates, and revisions are completed on schedule
- Coordinate assigned articles and publication content through various editorial stages
- Prepare finalized content for handoff to the creative/design team for layout and production
- Support multiple magazine issues and publication projects simultaneously
- Collaborate closely with the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editors, writers, designers, and editorial staff
- Assist with publication scheduling, workflow tracking, and editorial organization
- Support digital content management and online publication processes
- Write occasional news stories, feature articles, or editorial content when required
- Participate in editorial meetings, planning sessions, and publication check-ins
- Maintain organized files, revision notes, publication trackers, and editorial records
- Ensure assigned projects and publication tasks are completed within deadlines
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experience:
- Post-secondary education in:
- English
- Journalism
- Communications
- Creative Writing
- Media Studies
- Or related fields
- Strong editing, proofreading, and written communication skills
- Ability to provide constructive editorial feedback and manage revisions professionally
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- High level of attention to detail and publication accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with writers, editors, and creative teams
- Ability to work independently while remaining responsive and accountable within a team environment
- Experience with editorial production, digital publishing, or magazine workflow is considered an asset
- Motivated self-starter with strong follow-through and problem-solving abilities
Employment Details
- Number of Positions: 2
- Rate of Pay: $17.80/hour
- Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week
- Contract Length: 9 weeks
- Employment Start Date: May 25, 2026
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Remote
- Participation in scheduled editorial meetings and team check-ins is required
Eligibility Requirements
