- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Telecoms/Computer Engineering

- Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer/Licensee with APEGA

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in system planning, design, preparation of documents for radio communication system installation and RF frequency licensing, including Trunked Radio and Microwave Radio systems, Telecom Shelters/Towers, and Telecom Sites
  • Prepare design drawings such as architecture diagrams, layouts, wiring diagrams, calculations, BOM, cable schedules, and RF coverage report for radio communications system including tower sites
  • Coordinate with vendors and review vendor engineering documentation to ensure engineering standards and the client’s specifications are met

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of wireless technologies such as LMR (Land Mobile Radio), Wi-Fi, wireless PTMP/PTP, satellite, microwave, LTE and SCADA
  • Expertise and experience with the P25 System is preferred
  • Understanding of RF system infrastructure including repeaters, antennas, filters, combiners, multicouplers, duplexers, etc.
  • Familiarity with IP network design
  • Good understanding of RF propagation
  • Experience with RF coverage modelling and predicting tools (Spectrum-E, Pathloss, ibWave, WinProp ProMan, Ekahau or similar)
  • Knowledge of CEC, CSA S37, Motorola R56, and other relevant industry standards
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and support team resources
  • High attention to details
  • Ability to draft engineering drawings using AutoCAD/MicroStation is an advantage
  • Team-oriented, organized and customer focused
  • Personal Characteristics: problem solving, ability to work under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA
  • Eligible to work in Canada
