Role Summary
We are seeking an Electrical EIT to join our water treatment design and fabrication team. The Electrical EIT supports the design and execution of electrical power, control, and instrumentation systems for custom water and wastewater treatment facilities. Working closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer, this role contributes to system design, equipment selection, layouts, and technical coordination with other engineering disciplines, production, and project management to ensure compliant, buildable, and cost-effective solutions.
Komline Pure Water has been providing clean drinking water and treating wastewater for environmental protection for over 30 years, with a strong emphasis on serving the needs of remote and indigenous communities. Each treatment system we offer is custom designed to meet the requirements of the clients and community and manufactured to provide reliable service under the harshest climate conditions. If you would like to help improve the quality of life for others, while also protecting our environment, we would like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
· Electrical design of water and wastewater treatment systems custom-designed for small communities and industrial applications.
· Develop electrical designs for both power distribution and control systems, including MCCs, control panels, field devices, and instrumentation.
· Prepare electrical layouts, including equipment layouts, conduit and cable routing, panel locations, and interface points with mechanical systems.
· Develop single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and interconnection diagrams based on detailed P&IDs.
· Support preparation of electrical load lists, cable schedules, I/O lists, and panel schedules.
Coordination & Integration
· Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, process, instrumentation, and controls disciplines to ensure proper integration and constructability.
· Work closely with production and fabrication teams to support panel fabrication, wiring, and system assembly.
· Respond to technical queries and provide clarification during fabrication, installation, and testing.
· Participate as a project team member under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager.
Codes, Standards & Compliance
· Apply working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and
standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and relevant client or authority requirements.
· Ensure designs comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
· Support internal design reviews and assist with addressing code-related comments and deficiencies.
Equipment Selection & Procurement Support
· Select and specify electrical equipment, control components, and instrumentation appropriate for the application and environment.
· Assist with sourcing of electrical and control components and preparing technical specifications.
· Review vendor submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
· Support cost estimating activities related to electrical and controls scope.
Project & Field Support
· Assist with schedule, cost, and technical risk management from an electrical engineering perspective.
· Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and system troubleshooting as required.
· Travel to customer sites may be required to support installation, testing, or commissioning activities.
· Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
· Registered with EGBC as a P.Eng.
· 3+ years of experience in project-based industrial, manufacturing, or process system environments.
· Experience with industrial electrical systems and controls integration.
· Thorough knowledge of design procedures, specifications, and engineering software.
· Experience developing control schematics based on detailed P&IDs.
· Comfortable working directly with production and shop-floor teams.
· Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical tasks concurrently.
