Duties & Responsibilities

Impact and Responsibilities:

  • Assist project teams in designing electrical systems for various building facilities under the supervision of a Senior Electrical Designer / Electrical Engineer.
  • Apply your working knowledge of electrical design and supporting calculations, including:
    • Single line drawings
    • Feeder sizing
    • Panel and distribution board sizing
    • Motor control schedules
    • Fault and voltage drop calculations
  • Design systems for power distribution, lighting (indoor and outdoor), power generation, controls, life safety (e.g., fire alarm, public address, nurse call), voice/data communications, basic security/CCTV systems, and lighting calculations.
  • Check drawings for dimensional and graphic accuracy, design suitability, and adherence to drawing standards.
  • Prepare drawings in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and sales reps.
  • Prepare project documentation and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct site visits, reviews, and assist with contract administration.
  • Lead an internal team through multiple projects concurrently.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to meet project needs.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of related professional experience preferred.
  • Background as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Technologist-in-Training, or Electrician is a strong asset.
  • Electrical Journeyman certificate within Alberta or an inter-provincial seal is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in commercial, retail, office, residential, and institutional projects.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal electrical and building codes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and share ideas.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
