Automation Technician (PLC/HMI/VFD)

Position will be responsible for: developing and implementing control system solutions related to motor & pump controls including PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s and SCADA platform integration. Direct interaction with clients is required.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

· Design automation solutions for process controls

· PLC, HMI and VFD package programming, design and integration

· Commission Fieldbus communication (EthernetIP, MQTT, OPCUA, Modbus)

· Integration between control panels and SCADA servers

· Provide technical support and resources for PLC,HMI and VFD equipment

· Site start-up support of integrated control systems

· Troubleshoot control system issues, help support existing client applications, general client communication

· Modify program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems

· Develop and evaluate alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements

· Assist with preparing diagrams and control panel layouts

· Review and recommend drawings, lists and specifications relative to instrumentation and process control

Competencies (skills, knowledge, experience) – skills/experience listed are an asset but not required for application for this position:

· PLC programming and integration (Omron, B&R)

· HMI programming and integration (Fuji, Maple Systems)

· SCADA programming and integration (Inductive Automation, Maple Systems)

· Proficient programming skills (ladder, structured text, FB)

· Fieldbus experience (EthernetIP, MQTT, OPCUA, Modbus)

-Networking experience

· Linux environment experience (Debian, Ubuntu)

· Solid grasp of basic electrical and mechanical systems

· Excellent reasoning, troubleshooting, and deduction skills

· Motivated by challenges and innovation, and finding solutions to these challenges

· Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks; display excellent attention to detail, and willingness and ability to learn new technologies quickly

· Works well in both an individual and team setting

· Solid communication skills, both verbal and written

· AutoCAD / Electrical design

· Commissioning / QAQC

· Experience with successfully interacting and working with customers at multiple levels of responsibility, in a manufacturing or production environment
