GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The Industrial Electrician, reporting to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electrical systems throughout the plant and office space by performing a range of tasks including the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical components and systems. Electrician must have a thorough understanding of electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work with departmental leaders to identify electrical needs to support current and future production needs.
  • Install new electrical systems requested for business needs, including wiring, conduits, and electrical apparatus.
  • Regularly inspect and test electrical components and systems.
  • Identify and repair electrical problems using various testing devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and downtime.
  • Document repairs and maintenance procedures for future reference.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Partner with HSE Manager to implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete any special projects as required. May be assigned to other areas of the business, based on business or customer requirements.

PEOPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Communicate effectively with management, engineers, and co-workers about maintenance progress and challenges.
  • Train and supervise other electricians and apprentices.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES:

  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure electrical systems are functioning efficiently and safely.
  • Minimized Downtime: Reduce downtime through effective preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Accurate Documentation: Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities for future reference.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Licensing: Industrial electrical licence (442a) required
  • Experience: Several years of experience in industrial electrical work is often preferred.
  • Must be self motivated with strong analytical and task prioritization abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment issues.
  • Experience with overhead cranes.
