Full job description

DZ Driver for tandem dump truck experienced with local quarries for gravel / asphalt. You must have dump truck experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Driver to go to asphalt plant, quarry and various dump sites in a timely fashion
  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations.
  • Perform appropriate trip inspections on equipment operation and load, ensuring safety and roadworthiness.
  • Check vehicle before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with the public, customers, and co-workers.
  • Complete and submit all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
  • Must be knowledgeable of height and weight requirements.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional/mature manner.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driver must provide clean CVOR, resume and references to apply
  • Experience working with asphalt an asset
  • Experience running equipment an asset
  • Be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
  • Maintain a valid license with clean driver’s abstract.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs, step up and down into truck, sit, kneel, reach and bend.
  • Be able to read and write to ensure compliance paperwork is completed daily.
