Group Benefits Consultant


Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Compensation: Starting at $85,000 + Commission + Comprehensive Benefits


About the Opportunity


We're looking for an experienced Group Benefits Consultant to join a growing and client-focused employee benefits consulting firm.


In this role, you'll partner with employers to develop and manage customized Group Benefits programs while building strong, long-term client relationships. You'll provide strategic advice on plan design, renewals, funding arrangements, and cost-management strategies, helping clients deliver competitive benefits to their employees.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of Group Benefits clients.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on Group Benefits plan design, renewals, funding arrangements, and cost-containment strategies.
  • Lead renewal negotiations, market reviews, and insurance carrier discussions.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations and recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurance carriers, and strategic partners.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and support new business growth.
  • Collaborate with leadership on business development initiatives and process improvements.
  • Monitor client retention, revenue growth, and profitability.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure compliance documentation is up to date.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Active Ontario Life & Accident/Sickness Insurance License (Required).
  • Minimum 5 years of Group Benefits experience within a brokerage, insurance carrier, consulting firm, or advisory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Group Benefits plan design
    • Employee Benefits renewals
    • Funding arrangements
    • Carrier negotiations
    • Cost-management strategies
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching team members is considered an asset.
