Full job description

Transdev Canada is hiring Casual Transit Operators for our Abbotsford location!

As a Transit Operator, you will be responsible on transporting passengers on public transit vehicles like buses, while ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers.

Your role

  • Provide safe, courteous, and reliable transportation services to passengers throughout the designated service area by operating buses, coaches, or company vehicles in accordance with assigned schedules and safety standards.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer service attitude.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety.
  • Provide appropriate assistance to riders to ensure safe boarding and exiting of buses, including supporting passengers who use mobility aids when entering and leaving the vehicle.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bus interior.
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding schedule adjustments, passenger incidents, or emergencies.
  • Accurately operate fare boxes, electronic destination signs, and onboard systems.
  • Complete reports related to incidents, accidents, or operational concerns as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your profile

  • Completion of Grade 12 or an equivalent level of education.
  • A valid Class 2 BC Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement (or higher).
  • A safe and responsible driving record over the past five years.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to engage with passengers of all backgrounds.
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, split shifts, evenings, and weekends.
  • Proficiency in safely operating transit vehicles (training provided).
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions in public transit.
  • The ability to pass a vulnerable sector records check and drug/alcohol testing.

Your location

  • This is a casual, unionized position in Abbotsford.
  • Transit environment: early, split & late shifts may be required.
