About Maple Bear

Maple Bear Global Schools Ltd, headquartered in Canada, is the head office of one of the world's largest international school networks built on Canadian curriculum and pedagogy, operating through a master-franchise and partner-school model in more than 35 countries. The company develops and publishes proprietary learning materials for deployment across its school network.

The role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer leads the global strategy, operations, governance and expansion of the network. The CEO holds full profit-and-loss accountability for the head office; directs multi-country franchise and licensed-network growth; manages the relationship with the international controlling shareholder and joint-venture partners; leads the executive team; directs the development and publication of the company's proprietary learning-materials program deployed across the school network; and delivers the group's diversification and financial plan, including the company's expansion initiatives in Canada.

Required qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of senior executive leadership (C-suite or equivalent general-management level) in an education, education-publishing, or multi-site / franchise-based services organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience directing operations across multiple countries, including Latin American markets, with full profit-and-loss responsibility. The network's largest operating market is Brazil, with substantial operations across Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Latin America.
  • A proven track record of scaling a franchise or licensed-network business and delivering multi-year revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a multinational governance structure involving a controlling shareholder and/or joint-venture partners, including financial and operational reporting obligations across multiple markets and entities.
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written.
  • Experience in the educational publishing / learning-materials sector — the development, editing, and publication of curriculum or learning materials at scale. The company is currently authoring, editing, publishing and implementing its proprietary learning-materials program across its global school network, and the CEO directs this program.
  • Ability and availability to travel internationally on behalf of the company.

Assets

  • Fluency in Portuguese, spoken and written — an asset given the company's controlling shareholder, is Brazilian and the network's single largest operating market is Brazil.
  • Working fluency in Spanish, given the network's operations and growth across Spanish-speaking Latin America.
  • Experience implementing enterprise systems (ERP) and digital-transformation programs at scale.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: $230,000.00-$250,000.00 per year

  • How many years of senior executive leadership experience (C-suite or equivalent) do you have in education, educational publishing, or a multi-site/franchise-based services organization?
  • Do you have experience directing operations across multiple countries, including Latin American markets, with full P&L responsibility?
  • Do you have experience scaling a franchise or licensed-network business and delivering multi-year revenue growth?
  • Do you have experience in educational publishing or learning materials, including the development, editing, publication, and implementation of curriculum or learning materials at scale?
