Automotive Service Technician (Automotive Mechanic)

Location: CNRL Horizon - Fly in/ Fly out - Camp based
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Graf Mechanical Ltd. is a locally owned and operated mechanical company serving the Fort McMurray region. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for a dedicated, safety-focused Automotive Service Technician to join our team.

This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered cars, light-duty trucks, and fleet vehicles. If you are self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering quality workmanship while working safely, we encourage you to apply.

Job Summary

The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on company fleet vehicles and customer vehicles. Working closely with the Service Manager and fellow technicians, you will ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, steering, suspension, brake, drivetrain, heating, air conditioning, and engine-related issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance including oil changes, fluid services, tire rotations, brake inspections, and manufacturer-recommended maintenance.
  • Inspect vehicles and identify required repairs.
  • Use computerized diagnostic equipment and scan tools to diagnose vehicle concerns.
  • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, differentials, suspension components, brakes, exhaust systems, cooling systems, and electrical components.
  • Perform vehicle safety inspections and road tests before and after repairs.
  • Complete accurate repair orders, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate repair recommendations and timelines with management and customers as required.
  • Perform various related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician Certification (preferred) or registered Apprentice.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a satisfactory recent driver's abstract.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as an Automotive Service Technician.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing domestic and import vehicles.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and computerized diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with diesel pickup trucks is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-focused mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
