Full job description

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Senior Engineer, Rotating Equipment on a permanent basis in our Major Projects team.

This position requires on-site work and is based in Regina, SK .

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Engineer, Rotating Equipment to lead and support the design, development, and execution of a large-scale carbon capture project and other Energy Roadmap projects. This role will play a critical part in advancing low-carbon infrastructure and supporting our organization’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in mechanical systems design, industrial facilities, and project delivery, with a strong preference for experience in carbon capture, oil & gas, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead mechanical engineering design and technical oversight for rotating equipment.
  • Develop and review engineering deliverables, including specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, and layout drawings.
  • Provide engineering support through all project phases, from concept development and FEED to construction and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
  • Review contractor, supplier, and vendor documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Identify technical risks and support mitigation strategies.
  • Provide field engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Resolve technical issues and support performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and regulators.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and permitting activities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to HSE requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and engineering calculations.
  • Support the development and implementation of Asset Care Strategies (ACS) for rotating equipment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (or eligibility in Saskatchewan)
  • 8+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, ideally in major projects or industrial/infrastructure environments
  • Experience with major capital projects such as carbon capture, oil & gas, petrochemical, or infrastructure developments is an asset
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, etc.)
  • Industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, CSA, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments

The Team: You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineering professionals and project specialists. This team strives to cultivate a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and safety. As a subject matter expert, you will lead and mentor others in the engineering process from preparing regulatory-aligned technical reports and specifications to guiding the design, development, and delivery of complex projects. You’ll also provide strategic technical input to stakeholders, ensure schedules, budgets, quality, and safety standards are met, and lead research and analysis to inform best practices and drive ongoing improvements.
