Project Engineer (Full-Time Permanent)

ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Innovative Access Inc.’s team is growing! We are seeking a dedicated team-oriented project engineer with a strong work ethic, commitment to high-quality results, and excellent customer service skills to joint our team.

The position is based at our Ottawa Canotek industrial park location. The successful candidate will work directly with our engineering, design and installation teams as well as consultants, clients, developers and sub-contractors. Primary roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare detailed project estimates, preliminary designs, and proposals.
  • Review equipment shop drawings for compliance with governing CSA standards and regulations prior to issuing to clients.
  • Affix engineer seal once drawings are compliant and ready to be issued.
  • Oversee projects to completion by working with the design, fabrication, and installations teams.
  • Act as the main technical point of contact for clients and ensure clients have a great experience working with our team.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies on all projects.
  • Attend construction sites as required for visual reviews, testing, commissioning, and reporting.
  • Analysis and design of fall protection and façade access systems. Undertake engineer calculations as required to ensure compliance.
  • Design new equipment with structural steel, aluminum, and concrete in strict compliance with governing CSA standards.
  • Assist owners / consultants with designs, I.A. product selections, specifications, lunch & learns, etc.,
  • Act as lead engineer for new projects, existing system inspections, reports, evaluations, designs, etc.,
  • Leadership role in guiding the team to have an innovative mindset, promoting growth and evolv- ing I.A. as an industry leader.
  • Work with our fabrication shop / suppliers to develop new innovative products, quality control, and ensure orders are on time.
  • Develop new equipment concepts and in-house testing of prototypes.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • Exceptional technical expertise with a strong commitment to delivering innovative and practical solutions.
  • In-depth understanding of construction processes and methodologies.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Autonomous self-driven worker.
  • Customer oriented.
  • Ability to solve problems and lead team to successful outcomes.
  • Knowledge of analysis software and design per governing concrete, steel and aluminum standards (CSA A23, CSA S16, and CSA S157).

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering from Canadian accredited university.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licenced engineer in the province of Ontario and Quebec. Must be in good standing with PEO or OIQ.
  • Additional experience with swing stages, scaffolding, fall protection and governing CSA Standards is considered an asset.
