Who we are:
Valley Feeds is part of the GVF Group of Companies, a Canadian, family-owned company dedicated to helping farmers produce meat, milk, and eggs profitably and sustainably. Across our companies, we support livestock producers with high-quality feed, innovative nutrition programs, and expert on-farm guidance.
Valley Feeds has proudly served Cambridge and surrounding communities since 1970. What began as a small retail store supporting local farmers has grown into a trusted destination for high-quality feed for wild birds, pets, farm animals, and horses, as well as lawn, garden, and pond care supplies. Our team is known for excellent service, expert advice, and products customers rely on.
Ours is a family business that cares about its employees and its community. We make sure that all our staff get what the best-in-class team members deserve: benefits, good wages, and respect. Whether through our charitable work, or our dedication to staff, GVF is committed to living out our principles and values.
Why we have this role:
Love Horses? Turn Your Passion Into a Career.
Valley Feeds is looking for an Equine Nutrition & Sales Specialist to become the trusted advisor for horse owners across Cambridge and surrounding communities.
You'll work directly with horse owners, conduct farm visits, develop feeding programs, build relationships within the local equine community, and help grow one of Ontario's most respected equine feed businesses.
If you have hands-on horse experience and enjoy helping people achieve better results with their horses, we'd love to meet you.
Working with us:
Regular business hours for Valley Feeds are Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You will work shifts primarily during the week (Monday to Friday) and on Saturdays as needed, averaging 30–40 hours per week. There may also be occasional requests to start early or work late as business needs require.
What you’ll do:
Equine Sales & Support

- Maintain strong relationships with equine brand partners and participate in product training, joint sales activities, and industry engagement opportunities.
- Support feed deliveries, including loading, unloading, and moving product as required.
- Assist with dealer order preparation, product availability, and day-to-day operations to support the growth of the equine business.
Customer Service & Retail Sales
- Greet and assist customers warmly, providing a positive experience in-store, over the phone, online, and during deliveries.
- Use a solution-based selling approach to understand customer needs, recommend products, and suggest complementary items when appropriate.
- Answer product-related questions and support customers with knowledgeable recommendations.
- Process sales accurately using the POS system and credit card terminal.
- Load customer purchases safely and efficiently, including supporting side dock pickups when needed.
- Support commercial landscape customers by loading products such as fertilizer, grass seed, and ice salt.
Inventory & Store Presentation
- Monitor inventory levels, identify restocking needs, and support product availability.
- Restock and organize shelves, ensuring products are well presented, faced, and rotated using FIFO practices.
- Maintain product displays and presentation standards throughout the store.
- Assist with bagging wild bird seed and small animal feed as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional store environment inside and outside the building.
Store Operations
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean parking lot, front porch, and loading dock area.
- Perform snow removal and ice control during winter months.
- Support additional store and operational duties as required.
Your background includes:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; education in Equine Nutrition is considered an asset.
- 1–2 years of experience in retail sales, customer service, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of equine nutrition and hands-on equine industry experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Valid G driver’s license and comfort operating a company delivery vehicle.
- Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift experience is an asset.
Why work with us:
