Volunteer and Communications Supervisor – July 2026

Community Living Kingston and District (CLKD) is a dynamic, community-based organization dedicated to supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live with dignity, independence, and full inclusion in their communities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and relationship-focused Volunteer & Communications Supervisor to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful community partnerships, leading volunteer initiatives, creating engaging communications, and promoting inclusion through innovative marketing and outreach.

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, this permanent full-time position is outside the bargaining unit and plays a key role in enhancing CLKD's community presence while supporting volunteer engagement across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Volunteer & Communications Supervisor is responsible for the development, coordination, recruitment, and retention of volunteers while leading the organization's communications and marketing initiatives. This position serves as an ambassador for Community Living Kingston and District by fostering community partnerships, promoting volunteer opportunities, managing social media and marketing campaigns, and representing the organization at community events.

The successful candidate is an exceptional communicator who enjoys public engagement, has strong organizational skills, embraces technology, and is passionate about creating inclusive communities.

Duties also include:

Volunteer Program

· Promote volunteer involvement throughout the organization

· Coordinate, recruit, onboard, and retain volunteers across the organization.

· Lead creative volunteer recruitment efforts

· Develop strategies to enhance volunteer engagement and recognition.

· Foster meaningful relationships with volunteers, educational institutions, and community partners.

· Lead and coordinate Community Living Kingston and District's participation in the Best Buddies Program through the Queen's University and St. Lawrence College chapters.

· Maintain accurate documentation and records related to volunteer screening and ongoing involvement.

Communications & Marketing

· Develop and manage content for CLKD's social media platforms and digital communications.

· Create engaging marketing materials, promotional campaigns, newsletters, presentations, and organizational publications.

· Coordinate the design, production, and ordering of promotional materials for various departments.

· Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels and internal documentation.

Community Engagement

· Provide Leadership and organization to the agency’s presence at career fairs, community events, volunteer fairs, and networking opportunities.

· Deliver presentations to community organizations, schools, businesses, and partners.

· Build collaborative relationships that increase awareness of CLKD's mission and services.

· Participate in community committees and partnerships, including serving as CLKD's representative with KaVV and facilitating meetings.

Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities

· Complete Individual Support Agreements (ISA) and Rights Reviews for individuals not connected to other organizational services.

· Maintain accurate documentation and records.

· Contribute to departmental planning and organizational initiatives.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

· A post-secondary diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Office Administration, Human Services, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

· Experience coordinating volunteer programs, communications, marketing, or community engagement initiatives, preferably within a non-profit or unionized environment.

· Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.

· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

· Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders and community partners.

· Experience creating engaging content for social media and marketing platforms.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and various social media platforms.

· Strong technology skills with exceptional attention to detail.

· Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

· Excellent judgement, professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy.

· Proven ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.

· Fluency in French is considered an asset.

· A valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Hours of Work:

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week.

Flexibility is essential, as the successful candidate will adjust their schedule to meet the needs of volunteer programming and community engagement activities. Evening and weekend work will be required to support organizational events, volunteer initiatives, and operational requirements and is a regular feature of this role.

Compensation: $69,901.86 per year. Pay is issued on a biweekly basis.

· RRSP/Benefits: Eligible for RRSP matching program and Benefits plan (drug, dental, extended health) with requirements to pay employee portion costs.

· Vacation/Sick: Eligible and accrued following language as outlined in CLKD policy.
