Full job description

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to oversee multidisciplinary engineering activities for a major oil and gas facilities project. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Engineering, with day-to-day direction from the Project Manager, this individual will coordinate engineering service providers, vendors, fabricators, internal technical experts and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have 10–15 years of experience and extensive hands-on involvement across the full project lifecycle, from FEED and detailed engineering through procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, start-up and close-out. Experience working in both owner and EPC environments is strongly preferred. Marine experience is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering activities for assigned scopes, ensuring designs are safe, functional and compliant with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage engineering deliverables to support project cost, schedule, quality, fabrication and construction objectives.
  • Review and approve engineering documents, procedures, technical packages and stage-gate deliverables.
  • Contribute to the design basis, execution plans, cost estimates, schedules and risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate regulatory, technical and multidisciplinary engineering requirements.
  • Develop technical scopes of work and lead bid evaluations for engineering services, equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate vendors, engineering service providers, quality activities and third-party inspections.
  • Manage design changes, RFIs, NCRs and engineering change logs.
  • Visit fabrication shops and the construction site as required to confirm design implementation and resolve technical issues.
  • Support construction, commissioning, start-up, operational readiness, punch-list management and project close-out.
  • Capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve engineering practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer. P.L. (Eng.) candidates may also be considered.
  • 10–15 years of relevant oil and gas project experience.
  • Extensive start-to-finish project experience, including FEED, pre- and post-FID, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up.
  • Experience working in both owner and EPC or engineering service provider environments.
  • Strong multidisciplinary oil and gas facilities knowledge, with technical depth in facilities and process engineering.
  • Gas-processing project experience involving an EPF component.
  • Greenfield and brownfield project experience.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Nice to Have:

  • Marine, marine terminal, port or waterfront facility experience.

Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid schedule with four days per week in the office.
  • Periodic travel to fabrication shops and project sites, potentially for up to one week.
  • Pay rate: $100-$130 per hour.

Pay: $100.00-$130.00 per hour
