Residential Architectural Technologist (Senior Level)

Are you a detail-driven Architectural Technologist with a passion for custom residential design? Join our collaborative and innovative team where your technical expertise and creativity will help shape exceptional living spaces.

We are seeking a Residential Architectural Technologist (Intermediate to Senior level) to lead and support the design and production of high-quality architectural drawings and documentation for custom homes, renovations, and residential developments.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

  • Create, coordinate, and oversee detailed construction drawings for custom homes, renovations, and residential developments.
  • Ensure all drawings are accurate, code-compliant, and aligned with company standards and client expectations.
  • Develop master plans and revise models/elevations as needed to reflect design changes.
  • Produce 3D models, renderings, and visualizations to support presentations and client communication.

Technical Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with the Manitoba Building Code, local zoning bylaws, and city requirements.
  • Conduct periodic building code and performance reviews throughout project phases.
  • Provide insights and development on building envelope, structure, and systems integration.

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and clients to streamline workflows and address project needs.
  • Liaise with municipal authorities for permitting and approvals.
  • Coordinate with engineers and consultants to ensure alignment and resolve design conflicts.
  • Participate in contract administration and provide technical support during construction, including site visits and quality checks.

Team Leadership & Mentorship (Senior Level)

  • Mentor and guide junior technologists and drafting staff, ensuring technical quality and professional growth.
  • Review drawings for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) prior to permit and construction issuance.
  • Provide hands-on design solutions and sketch concepts when needed.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in residential architecture, including custom homes, renovations, and subdivisions.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit; SketchUp or other 3D modeling/rendering tools are an asset.
  • Experience with BuilderTrend would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the Manitoba Building Code and local residential construction practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong understanding of construction assemblies and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative mindset.
  • Valid driver’s license (for site visits)
