Full job description

Nick’s Your Independent Grocer Mahone Bay NS is a great place to work, with great people and food. We are looking for a Deli Associate to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Make sandwiches and cook fresh chicken
  • Prepare, serve, and present food and beverages in a timely, efficient, and courteous manner, paying attention to detail
  • Maintain cleanliness of store and Deli equipment, materials, and work area
  • Answer phone calls and take orders while remaining calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Process orders for pickup according to schedule
  • Inform customers about available discounts or purchase options
  • Maintain store appearance, by cleaning and sanitizing the front and back areas, restocking items, removing trash, etc.
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Maintain positive team-oriented relationships with other employees
  • Work overtime as needed to support team member needs

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Deli Associate or similar position in retail
  • Experience with cash handling, customer service and food service preferred but not required
  • Basic math skills and ability to follow instructions but also respond to changes in specific situations (e.g., traffic patterns, sales trends)
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.75-$17.50 per hour
