POSITION SUMMARY

DEC is seeking an Engineering Senior Manager to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting the design and delivery of mission-critical data center projects. This role is responsible for overseeing engineering execution, technical coordination, resource planning, design quality, and stakeholder engagement across multiple active projects.

The Engineering Senior Manager will work closely with Project Management, Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, Consultants, and Clients to ensure engineering deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, technical expertise, and a proven track record delivering complex construction or infrastructure projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple projects.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight throughout project execution.
  • Establish engineering priorities, resource plans, and workload distribution.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of engineering personnel.
  • Promote engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Design Management & Coordination

  • Oversee engineering deliverables from concept design through construction support.
  • Coordinate with consultants, architects, contractors, and project teams.
  • Lead design reviews, constructability assessments, and technical workshops.
  • Ensure engineering documentation meets project, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support value engineering initiatives and design optimization efforts.

Technical Oversight

  • Review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
  • Resolve complex technical issues and provide guidance to project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Support commissioning and project turnover activities as required.

Project Support

  • Collaborate with Project Management and Project Controls teams to support project execution.
  • Monitor engineering progress and identify risks affecting project schedules.
  • Support procurement activities including technical evaluations and vendor reviews.
  • Participate in client meetings and technical presentations.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across internal and external teams.
  • Provide technical leadership during project planning and execution phases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience.
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within EPC, design-build, or construction environments is considered a strong asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of engineering project delivery processes.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • P.Eng. designation preferred.
  • PMP designation considered an asset.
  • Experience with BIM, Revit, and engineering collaboration platforms is considered an asset.
