Full job description

Custom Metal Contracting is a family owned & operated company located in Calgary, Alberta. Due to our continued growth, Custom Metal Contracting is actively seeking a delivery driver and yard helper for our manufacturing shops.

We are looking for bright and energetic team members to join our team. This role requires flexibility as hours may extend beyond standard operating times. Hours of work could be from 6:00 am until 4:00 pm depending on workload and schedule of deliveries.

Lift Truck Operator (LTO), Warehouse Worker will ensure safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of products utilizing equipment including, but not limited to sit down forklifts, pallet jacks.

What You'll Do:

  • Flat deck experience with focus on safety, professionalism and reliability.
  • Safely operate and maneuver flat deck truck and trailer on construction sites.
  • Ensure proper load securement in compliance with safety standards.
  • Complete timely pick ups and deliveries.
  • Maintain a clean, professional vehicle.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients.
  • Efficiently and safely load and unload material using proper equipment to move products to storage throughout facility.
  • Effectively stack and store material, pick and assemble orders for shipment, check freight for accuracy, damage, while labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as directed by management.
  • In compliance with OSHA standards, operate equipment in a manner that promotes safety.
  • Must be able to meet production standards while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Perform other duties such as inventory, cleaning, or forklift battery changes and may be required to perform other duties outside of normal responsibilities as needed.
  • Assemble pallets.
  • Crate and pack parts for shipment.

What Experience and Education You Need:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Two years as a Forklift Driver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Forklift License.
  • Minimum age 25 (insurance requirement)
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
  • Proven experience with flat deck hauling and load securement.
  • Strong ability to maneuver trailer in tight construction environments.
  • Dependable, punctual and able to adapt to changing schedules.

  • Ability to work overtime, evenings, or weekends to complete work or to attend safety meetings as assigned, and ability to adhere to attendance policies by showing up to assigned shift on time.
  • Requires the ability to pay close attention to details and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions for this position and meet the physical requirements needed to perform them, including but not limited to frequently requiring the ability to drive a forklift, sit, hear or talk, use close vision, use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, and type and manipulate controls. Employees are occasionally required to use distance vision, stand, kneel, or crouch. Reasonable accommodation may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities. While performing the essential functions of this job, the associate:

  • Will be required to tolerate working environment outside in all weather conditions.
  • Requires standing up to 5 hours, over the period of an 8-hour shift
  • Must be able to lift pallets of up to 70 lbs. and lift or carry products a minimum distance of 10 ft. without mechanical assistance.
