We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.

Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Study Manager to lead and execute complex technical and economic studies for major capital projects in the MMM sector. Based in our Vancouver office, this key role is responsible for the successful completion of all project development phases, including Scoping Studies, Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Definitive Feasibility Studies (DFS). The Senior Study Manager will be the single point of accountability for the study's scope, budget, schedule, and technical integrity, culminating in investment decisions. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Study Leadership and Management:
    • Accountability: Serve as the overall Study Manager, responsible for delivering the study within the approved budget, schedule, and quality parameters.
    • Scope Definition: Define and manage the study scope, ensuring clarity on required deliverables, objectives, and interface requirements among all technical disciplines and external consultants.
    • Team Leadership: Assemble, coordinate, and manage multidisciplinary internal teams (Engineering, Metallurgy, Geoscience, Environmental) and external Engineering firms/Consultants.
    • Stakeholder Management: Manage communications and expectations with executive leadership, internal steering committees, and external stakeholders (e.g., regulatory bodies, partners).
  • Technical and Financial Oversight:
    • Technical Integrity: Ensure the technical rigor and quality of all engineering, geoscience, process design, and infrastructure work within the study.
    • Economic Analysis: Lead the development of the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Operating Expenditure (OPEX) estimates, working closely with cost estimators and financial analysts.
    • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage key technical, execution, and financial risks throughout the study process.
    • Trade-Off Analysis: Direct and manage critical trade-off studies to optimize project value, technology selection, and configuration.
  • Procurement and Governance:
    • Contract Management: Lead the procurement process for external EPCM or consulting services required for the study, including developing Scopes of Work and managing contracts.
    • Governance: Ensure strict adherence to corporate governance protocols, best practices, and regulatory frameworks applicable to project studies (e.g., NI 43-101 compliance if applicable to the Mining sector).
    • Documentation: Oversee the final compilation and submission of all formal study reports (Scoping, PFS, DFS) for internal review and public release.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Senior-level progressive experience in project development and execution within the MMM sector, with strong experience directly managing or leading Feasibility Studies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million dollar study budgets and aggressive schedules.
  • Deep understanding of capital project development stages (Gate Process) and the technical and commercial requirements of each study phase (Scoping, PFS, DFS).
  • Exceptional leadership, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mining, Mechanical, Civil) or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.

Preferred:

  • MBA or advanced degree in Project Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Direct experience presenting technical and financial results to Executive/Board-level audiences.
  • Knowledge of project delivery methods (e.g., EPC, EPCM, Alliance).

For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $163,470.00 to $213,470.00 CAD.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
