A well-established, multi-location Canadian company is seeking an experienced Credit Manager to join our team in West Edmonton.
This is an excellent opportunity for a credit professional who enjoys continuously improving the effectiveness of the Credit function, leveraging modern technology combined with experience and enjoys building relationships with customers and business leaders. You will lead the Credit Department, oversee credit risk and collections for multiple companies, and work closely with leadership to protect the company's financial interests while supporting continued business growth.

Position Overview
The Credit Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Credit Department and overseeing the company's credit and collections functions across The Gear Centre Group of Companies.
This position is responsible for evaluating customer credit risk, establishing and maintaining credit limits, supporting collection activities, developing credit policies and procedures, and ensuring consistent application of sound credit practices. The Credit Manager provides leadership to the Credit team while working closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to balance customer service with effective risk management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Credit Department.
- Collaborate with business leaders to communicate credit process requirements and educate managers and supervisors on credit best practices.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to Credit team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Evaluate and monitor customer creditworthiness and establish appropriate credit limits.
- Develop and maintain credit policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor and report on critical credit KPI’s to company leadership.
- Oversee collection activities and support the resolution of delinquent accounts.
- Review aging reports and recommend appropriate action on high-risk accounts.
- Maintain accurate customer credit files and account records.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to Credit team members.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and fair credit practices.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external customers while protecting the company's financial interests.
Qualifications
- Certified Credit Professional (CCP) designation is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience leading a credit function for a multi-location organization with a high volume of customer accounts.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial credit practices, collections, and applicable legislation.
- Experience developing credit policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Strong financial analysis and credit assessment skills.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and accounting or ERP software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop employees.
