Full job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

MindWalk Biologics is the wet-lab antibody discovery engine of MindWalk Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: HYFT), a company building at the intersection of advanced biologics research, artificial intelligence, and multi-omics data. Our Victoria, BC site has delivered biologics discovery and development services since 1995, working alongside small, mid-size, and large pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

We are hiring a General Manager to lead this site through its next phase of growth. The site has about 30 FTEs, strong scientific talent, a solid process foundation, and an expanding client base. As volume and complexity grow, the GM will tighten execution, improve workflows, and evolve the operating model. The environment is fee-for-service and non-GMP.

The GM reports to the CEO and CFO and owns site P&L and delivery performance. The GM also supports practical use of AI and LLM tools to streamline reporting and give leadership real-time visibility into site performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

P&L and Financial Performance

  • Own the Canada site P&L, including budget, forecast, pricing, margin standards, and change order discipline
  • Work with the executive team to grow revenue year over year
  • Lead quarterly business reviews with the CEO and CFO and own corrective actions on revenue, margin, and delivery
  • Set and enforce operating metrics for expenses, bookings, backlog, capacity, utilization, project margin, and cash collection

Operations and Project Delivery

  • Find and fix growth bottlenecks in handoffs, scheduling, and consistency, and improve throughput without lowering scientific rigor or data quality
  • Standardize client project delivery, milestone reporting, and program governance
  • Apply new technologies and build personnel and equipment scheduling systems that raise utilization, clear backlog, and shorten timelines
  • Lead escalations and regular project reviews, and follow corrective actions through

Senior Administrator for Animal Care

  • Oversee the Animal Care Program to meet research and production goals under Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines, carry out the Senior Administrator duties in the CCAC policy statement, and own the Animal Welfare Policies and Animal Care Committee (ACC) Terms of Reference
  • Manage the consulting veterinarian contract and ensure the animal facility has adequate housing and trained staff, and the funding to support them

AI/LLM Adoption and Software Platform Leadership

  • Identify practical AI and LLM use cases that support scientific workflows and cut manual work in database queries, project scoping, status reporting, literature review, and report drafting
  • Support adoption of software-enabled workflows that connect wet-lab delivery with in silico and AI-driven capabilities, and align decision rights, planning, and reporting with the AI site and corporate teams
  • Track impact through metrics such as time saved and reporting turnaround

Agreements and Licensing

  • Work with the internal sales team to negotiate and manage site agreements, including master services agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, and limited use licenses
  • Manage licensing and product distributor agreements, prepare royalty reports, and manage royalties

Team Leadership and Scaling

  • Set clear roles, goals, and performance expectations
  • Work with HR on recruitment, retention, and culture, and build site leadership through coaching and targeted hiring
  • Own workforce planning and org design for scale, in partnership with corporate leadership
  • Lead change across structure, process, systems, and culture, and support the executive team in building a cohesive global team

Audit Readiness and Laboratory Safety

  • Support and resource the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), address its recommendations, and complete its annual written evaluation
  • Maintain safe laboratory operations and compliance with the Workers Compensation Act and OHS Regulation
  • Keep the Quality Management System effective, including internal SOPs and equipment maintenance
  • Ensure client-required documentation and audit readiness, and use AI and LLM tools for SOP version control and audit preparation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in biology, biotechnology, business administration, finance, or a related field
  • 15 or more years of progressive management experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and margin management
  • 5 or more years in a CRO, CDMO, or fee-for-service biologics R&D environment serving pharmaceutical and biotech clients, including non-GMP laboratory operations
  • 8 or more years leading leaders, including managers and senior scientific or operational leads
  • Experience with biological production laboratories and laboratory animal use, and familiarity with CCAC guidelines and US and European animal science accreditations
  • Experience adopting AI and LLM tools and leading software rollouts in an operational or scientific services environment
  • Track record of scaling operations and teams in high-growth environments, with strong change management
  • Strong client-facing leadership, including program reviews and escalations, and disciplined prioritization of competing demands

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA, PhD, or other advanced degree in life science or a STEM field
  • Familiarity with scientific roles, titles, and compensation in the Canadian biotechnology industry
  • Experience using AI and LLM tools for operational reporting and program tracking, and familiarity with AI in biologics R&D, including in silico modeling and AI-assisted experimental design
  • Experience operating across multiple sites and geographies, including partnership with an EU-based team

CORE COMPETENCIES
