Pastry Production Assistant

Position Summary

The Pastry Production Assistant supports the daily operations of Encore Catering's Pastry Department by producing a variety of fresh grab-and-go items, baked goods, and individually portioned products for corporate catering, events, and daily meal programs. This role combines light baking, food preparation, portioning, packaging, and presentation while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, cleanliness, and food safety.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment, takes pride in attention to detail, and values producing beautiful, consistent food.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing fresh grab-and-go items including yogurt parfaits, chia puddings, overnight oats, fruit cups, snack boxes, and similar products.
• Washing, cutting, and preparing fresh fruit for individual portions and fruit platters.
• Portioning cookies, squares, desserts, and other pastry items according to company specifications.
• Baking and finishing pastries including cookies, muffins, croissants, scones, and other baked goods.
• Decorating and garnishing products to ensure consistent presentation.
• Assisting with the packaging, labeling, and organization of products for delivery.
• Maintaining accurate portion sizes and minimizing product waste.
• Following recipes and production schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
• Assisting with inventory rotation using FIFO principles and notifying supervisors when ingredients are running low.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
• Following all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Supporting other members of the pastry department as production demands require.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, bakery, catering company, or food production environment is considered an asset.
• Passion for food quality and presentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to follow recipes and written production instructions.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to multitask and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Comfortable performing repetitive production tasks.
• Ability to work in refrigerated and kitchen environments.
• Manual dexterity for detailed food preparation and packaging.

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
