Job Title: Skilled Labourer – Pipelayer

Location: Remote project sites across Northern Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario

Employment Type: Full-Time, Project-Based (Rotation)

Arnason Industries Ltd. is a leading general contractor specializing in heavy civil construction, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, underground servicing, road construction, and related infrastructure. Our work is performed across some of the most remote and challenging regions of Northern Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. We are known for delivering high-quality infrastructure safely, efficiently, and in close coordination with Indigenous communities and project stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Skilled Labourer – Pipelayer is responsible for the installation of underground water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems in support of civil infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Field Superintendent or Site Supervisor, this role works closely with operators and other crew members to ensure underground services are installed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project drawings and specifications.

This position is based at remote, camp-based project sites and follows a typical 3 weeks in / 1 week out rotation. Camp accommodation and meals are provided. Extended work hours, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays, are common due to project and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Pipelaying & Underground Services

  • Install water main, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage piping, including fittings, valves, hydrants, manholes, and catch basins
  • Set pipe to laser or grade stakes to achieve required line, grade, and slope tolerances
  • Assist with trenching, bedding preparation, backfill, and compaction operations
  • Work around existing underground utilities and infrastructure as required

Drawings, Layout & Coordination

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and grade information
  • Coordinate work with equipment operators, survey, and site supervision to maintain production and schedule
  • Assist with layout, elevations, and alignment using lasers and levels

Safety, Quality & Housekeeping

  • Perform all work in compliance with provincial regulations and Arnason Industries’ safety policies
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area at all times
  • Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks
  • Support quality workmanship and adherence to project standards and specifications

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in pipelaying or underground utility installation
  • Proven ability to work safely in trenching and excavation environments
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a crew
  • Physically capable of moderate to heavy lifting and working in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required by project schedules
  • Valid Driver’s License required

Compensation & Work Details:

  • Wage: $20.00 – $32.00 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience
  • Overtime: Paid in accordance with applicable employment standards
  • Work Schedule: Rotation-based (typically 3 weeks on / 1 week off)
  • Work Environment: Remote, camp-based projects
  • Accommodation & Meals: Provided while working at site
