Junior Controls Installer (1–2 Years Experience)

Role: Junior Controls Installer
Company: Voyager Buildings – Toronto, ON

Are you looking to grow your career in Building Automation Systems? Voyager Buildings is seeking a motivated Junior Controls Installer with 1–2 years of hands-on experience to join our expanding team.

About the Role

As a Junior Controls Installer I, you will support field installations, assist senior installers, and learn advanced building automation practices. This role is ideal for someone early in their BAS career who wants structured learning, steady field experience, and opportunities for growth.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of Building Automation Systems under supervision.
  • Read and interpret BAS drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical plans.
  • Pull wire, install devices, sensors, controllers, and panels.
  • Prepare and organize materials and tools for daily site activities.
  • Support senior installers in troubleshooting system issues.
  • Ensure QA/QC standards are followed during installation.
  • Complete daily site reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, professional work environment.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years’ experience in Building Automation, HVAC controls, low-voltage electrical, or related field.
  • College Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, or Automation (preferred).
  • Understanding of basic control systems and mechanical wiring.
  • Ability to read drawings and work with hand and power tools.
  • Valid G driver’s license with a clean record (required).
  • Electrical license an asset but not required.

Skills

  • Strong willingness to learn and grow within the BAS field.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, email).
  • Good time management and ability to follow instructions.

Shift & Schedule

  • Monday to Friday.
  • Field-based role across the GTA.
  • Occasional overtime/weekend work as required.

Compensation

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • Training provided with clear career advancement path toward Installer II and Technician levels.
