We are hiring an IT Support Technician! The IT Support Technician will be joining our client, one of Canada’s premier gold mining operations. Known for its commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainable practices, their site offers a dynamic work environment where employees play a key role in delivering operational excellence. This is a contract role for approximately 6 months.

The ideal candidate would be local to Northern Ontario, no travel allowance with this contract.

Payrate: $36.58 per hour

Rotations available 7/7 and 14/14 Camp setting.

The IT Support Technician specializing in desktop and laptop support is responsible for keeping employees’ computers running smoothly so they can do their jobs without interruption. This role sets up new devices, installs and updates software, troubleshoots technical issues, and fixes problems related to hardware, operating systems, and common business applications. They also help users with day‑to‑day questions, ensure equipment is secure and up to date, and coordinate repairs or replacements when needed. Overall, they’re the first point of contact for anything related to workstations and play a key role in maintaining a reliable, productive technology environment.
Education:
o Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
o Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience:
o 1–3 years of experience providing desktop/laptop support in a corporate or industrial environment.
o Hands-on experience with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
o Experience with imaging, deploying, and configuring computers.
o Familiarity with Active Directory, hardware troubleshooting, and basic networking.

Technical Skills:
o Strong problem-solving skills for hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
o Ability to set up, update, and secure devices efficiently.
o Comfortable coordinating repairs, replacements, and software updates.
Soft Skills / Behavioral Competencies:
o Excellent communication skills to assist end-users with technical questions.
o Detail-oriented and organized, able to track multiple setups and transitions.
o Strong customer service mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
o Adaptable and able to work in a dynamic, operational environment.
Preferred:
o Prior experience in a mining, industrial, or remote site environment.
o Knowledge of Dell hardware and factory imaging processes.
Additional Responsibilities include:
  • Unboxing & imaging a computer
  • Scheduling the date and time the user will receive their new computer
  • Ensuring all software, and configuration is applied prior to the scheduled date.
  • Working with the user to ensure the transition is smooth and complete.
  • Removing the old computer from AD, apply a Dell Factory Image, Storing it away

This is a camp position on a 7/7 or 14/14 rotation. Transportation is provided from Timmins or Cochrane, however you need to be able to provide your own transportation to either of those locations.
