The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.

What you'll do:
  • Perform COGO calculations using a data collector while in the field.
  • Lead and complete fieldwork for construction stakeouts, pinnings, gridline layouts, lot grading, and related survey tasks.
  • Prepare accurate and complete field notes in real time, documenting field checks and ensuring all records reflect work performed.
  • Demonstrate full proficiency with survey field equipment, including setup, pairing, operation, and basic maintenance.
  • Ensure all equipment and vehicles assigned to the crew are in proper working condition.
  • Follow all company and project-specific safety requirements and promote a safe work environment.
  • Apply appropriate redundant measurements for control points, layout, and construction stakeouts to ensure data quality.
  • Identify missing or unclear information in project files during action briefings or fieldwork and request clarification from office staff when needed.
  • Troubleshoot technical and field-related issues and escalate to senior staff when support is required.
  • Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all survey tools and how each integrates into field workflows to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field staff, train and mentor field assistants.
  • Work independently or as part of a larger survey team depending on project needs.
  • Supervise and direct Construction Survey crews to ensure work is completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve field efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What you bring:
  • A minimum of 3 years of construction or geomatics surveying experience, including layout and control.
  • Proficiency with total stations, GNSS/RTK systems, digital levels, and data collectors (e.g., Leica, Trimble, Topcon).
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, site plans, alignments, and grading requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of survey methods, including control establishment, redundant measurements, and QA/QC practices.
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot field issues independently and communicate effectively with office staff, contractors, and clients.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including accurate field notes and clear communication.
  • A valid G class driver’s license and comfort operating survey vehicles and equipment.
  • Commitment to safety, including awareness of construction-site hazards and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Leadership and mentorship skills, with the ability to guide and train field assistants.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and maintain productivity in demanding field environments.
  • A positive attitude, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
