Position Summary
The Community Engagement and Fund Development Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for leading the organization's community engagement, fundraising, donor relations, sponsorship development, grant support, volunteer engagement, and public awareness initiatives.
Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Program Manager, staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, community partners, and external consultants, the Coordinator will develop and implement comprehensive fundraising and community engagement strategies that increase awareness, strengthen partnerships, diversify revenue sources, and support the Centre's mission of empowering young parents.
The successful candidate is an energetic relationship-builder who enjoys networking, storytelling, event planning, fundraising, and developing long-term partnerships with individuals, businesses, foundations, and community organizations.
Primary ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement
- Develop and implement annual community engagement strategies aligned with the Centre's Strategic Plan.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, service clubs, government agencies, schools, Indigenous communities, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.
- Represent the Centre at community events, networking functions, conferences, trade shows, and public presentations.
- Coordinate community awareness campaigns promoting programs, services, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising initiatives.
- Deliver presentations regarding the Centre's mission and programs.
- Coordinate community partnerships that enhance programming and sustainability.
- Manage the Centre's public image and brand awareness within the community.
- Support Board and Executive Director engagement with community stakeholders.
Fund Development & Fundraising
Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that includes:
- Individual Giving Campaigns
- Monthly Giving Programs
- Major Gifts
- Corporate Sponsorships
- Workplace Giving
- Third-Party Events
- Online Giving Campaigns
- Giving Tuesday
- Year-End Campaigns
- Legacy Giving (where appropriate)
- In-Kind Donations
- Community Fundraisers
Additional responsibilities include:
- Research and identify prospective donors and sponsors.
- Develop donor cultivation strategies.
- Prepare sponsorship packages.
- Solicit sponsorships and donations.
- Steward donor relationships through regular communication.
- Coordinate donor recognition activities.
- Prepare donor impact reports.
- Develop donor retention strategies.
- Ensure timely acknowledgement letters and tax receipt processes.
- Maintain donor confidentiality.
Corporate & Community Partnerships
- Develop long-term partnerships with local businesses.
- Secure sponsorships for events and programs.
- Build partnerships with foundations and service organizations.
- Coordinate employee giving campaigns.
- Develop corporate volunteer opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for collaborative fundraising.
Grant Development & Funding Support
Working alongside the Executive Director and external grant consultant:
- Research grant opportunities.
- Assist in proposal development.
- Gather organizational data and statistics.
- Coordinate supporting documentation.
- Maintain the organizational grants calendar.
- Track grant deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Monitor grant compliance.
- Maintain funding records using Monday.com or other CRM systems.
Donor Database Management
- Maintain accurate donor records.
- Update donor profiles.
- Record gifts and pledges.
- Generate fundraising reports.
- Monitor campaign progress.
- Produce stewardship reports.
- Ensure data integrity.
- Assist with annual fundraising analytics.
Special Events
Lead the planning and execution of fundraising and community events including:
- Annual Fundraising Gala

- Work collaboratively with program staff regarding volunteer assignments.
Administration
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, and funding updates.
- Monitor budgets related to fundraising and engagement activities.
- Maintain project schedules and timelines.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports.
- Track fundraising KPIs.
- Assist with strategic planning initiatives.
- Support organizational accreditation and compliance activities.
Qualifications & Education
Post-secondary education in one or more of the following:
- Business Administration

Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Experience
- 3–5 years in fundraising, community engagement, nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or donor relations.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $28.38/hour (Community Engagement Wage Grid – Year 4)
Term: Full-time (35 hours/week), Yearly contracts.
