Your Opportunity:

This multisite position is based out of the Whitecourt Community Health Services office, with weekly travel required to the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre. As a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA), you will support the delivery of speech-language pathology services within an interdisciplinary team.

Under the direction of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), you will assist with treatment for preschool, school-age, and adult clients with communication disorders. Duties include preparing materials, carrying out assigned therapy activities, and supporting clinical and non-clinical program needs in alignment with client goals.

Key Responsibilities: Assist the SLP in implementing treatment programs for clients with communication disorders. Prepare and organize materials for therapy sessions and related activities. Carry out assigned program goals and objectives under SLP direction. Support services across pediatric and adult populations. Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with internal and external partners. Demonstrate professionalism, ethical practice, and commitment to family-centered care. Participate in quality improvement activities and program planning. Demonstrate reflective practice and commitment to ongoing learning.

Description:

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist.

You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams.

You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program with a major in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant or equivalent training may be considered. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently under direction and collaboratively within a team. Ability to travel weekly between sites.
