Looking for freedom within your professional practice and the ability to be involved in a variety of tasks and responsibilities? We are seeking a qualified individual with the following attributes to join our team.

About the Role

This role is an excellent opportunity for a talented engineering consultant to participate in interesting infrastructure projects, primarily water and wastewater related at waterfronts and within water bodies. Based in Victoria, BC, the position will focus largely on projects across Western Canada, with opportunities to support work in other locations. The ideal candidate is committed to excellent client service and takes pride in developing sound engineering solutions for unique site conditions.

The successful candidate will contribute to field investigations, engineering design, permitting, and other engineering assignments. Project work may involve ocean, aquatic, and riparian environments, pollution mitigation and effluents, pipelines, potable water, hydrology and oceanography, corrosion concrete, trenchless technology, and construction diving.

The candidate will work as part of a team of design engineers and environmental professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, study reports, engineering specifications, and construction contract documents.
  • Prepare technical reports and other written deliverables.
  • Apply sound engineering practice using applicable industry codes, standards, and construction methods.
  • Support technicians and designers in preparing and checking contract drawings.
  • Manage multiple tasks within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Performing construction field reviews and inspections.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.
  • Maintain currenting technical knowledge and professional practice standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as civil, mechanical, coastal, or environmental engineering.
  • Holds professional registration in BC, such as P.Eng. with EGBC, or in another Canadian province.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a consulting environment or similar role, including at least two years practising as a P.Eng. Equivalent combinations of qualifications and experience will be considered.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Experience leading and completing engineering design, specifications, cost estimates, tendering, and construction assignments.
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory processes and permitting for utility and land development projects in BC.
  • Experience with marine pipelines, utilities, rivers and hydrology, coastal and ocean environments, municipal or industrial infrastructure, land development, and concrete or rebar is considered an asset.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to solve problems and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel for project work as required.
  • Valid driver’s licence.’

Compensation

Anticipated salary range: Intermediate Qualified Professional, $100,000 to $130,000. GreatPacific offers fair compensation based on education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications.
