Chemical Process Operator

Miller Environmental Corporation (Miller) operates a fully licensed hazardous waste disposal company in

Manitoba providing a final local disposal option to our customers. We provide comprehensive and environmentally sound industrial waste management services to a wide range of industries and have become one of the largest waste treatment processing companies withing Western Canada.

Position Summary - Opportunity

Chemical process operators are responsible for a wide range of duties, including monitoring chemical processes and testing their quality to ensure they are compliant to all federal and provincial regulatory requirements. This position is located at our Processing Facility in the RM on Montcalm on Hwy 75 & 14.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Inspection and reception of various dangerous goods including documentation and inventory management.

2. Consolidation and bulking of industrial and household waste, in accordance with the facility’s license and TDG regulations.

3. Processing of hazardous waste in accordance with Safety, Environmental and Operational Protocols (SOP).

4. Follow established start-up, shutdown and troubleshooting control processes to ensure a safe operation.

5. Ensure equipment and systems are maintained (preventive plans) in coordination with the maintenance department.

6. Participate in the sampling of materials for quality control, record data and statistical process control.

7. Analyze, coordinate, and develop operating procedures for normal operation, start- up or shut- down of processing systems.

8. Cross-trained in different processing operations and rotate between different processing buildings.

9. Work in a team with shared responsibilities and participate in training other workers based on competencies developed.

10. Compliance and participation of Miller’s Safety Management System.

11. Participation in our 24- Hour Spill Response Team after successful chemical emergency response training

Employment Requirements

1. A post-secondary diploma in process operation, chemistry, sciences, or related area is required for this position.

2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

3. Physical ability to lift 50lb objects.

4. Certification in the transportation of dangerous goods (TDG), or workplace hazardous materials information system (WHMIS) is an asset.

5. Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.

6. Valid driver’s license.

7. Minimum 2 years work experience in a similar setting
